Well it depends where you live, but I would think 10 bucks a week should be enough, maybe 15, but that shouldn't be free money either, she needs to work for it. Some parents do it differently and give their kids money when they need it, also requiring some work around the house. Fifty is way too much at that age.

You're right, $50 a week is far too much, but the kid might be resentful if you take that much away from her.
I don't think giving any kid more than $20/week is necessary. You probably want to be the one to take them shopping for clothes and large items anyway, and paying for them. $20 is plenty to get candy and fast food or whatever they want over the span of a week -- with some left over to be able to save up for something big that they want to buy.
If she makes a fuss and demands $50/wk, you need to put her to work around the house. She probably won't like that for very long, but she needs to learn that if you want playing money that you need to earn it.

I most certainly would not give my child $50 a week! (Heck, I don't get $50 a week myself to blow). Give her enough for lunch at school, any bus fair she may need, any other daily costs, and maybe a few bucks for a snack and soda. She can ask for anything else she needs and explain why she needs it. If you WANT to give her the $50, give her what she needs for the week and make her put the rest into a savings account.

depends on what she does to earn it. If she does nothing then nothing..... My son is 15, he gets 50.00 a week was 25.00 but he has stepped up and helps out without being asked. Plus he carries the morning paper 7 days a week in our area. He does not spend but 5-10 of that a week it goes in the bank , he is saving up for when he starts driving.
so it all depends on what she does to earn it.

seriously....as long as ur providing her the basic necessitites...as a parent thats all u need to do... but its good to be rewarded so start off with a base of like 20-40 a month and if she does sumthing extra like clean or do chores then maybe a lil extra liek 5 dollars extra....do the allowances monthly so it teaches her to spread out her "earnings" and teaches her how to spend responsibly =) im a teen and that relali helped me but it might be hard for her to accept shes not getting 50 a week=| thats just straight up spoiling..even i knoe that
peace

$10 a week is plenty , and remember it is not free money and a handout . It has to be earned to be meaningful. One or two household chores should be installed such as take out garbage once a week etc. , keep own room neat .
Bless you for getting involved .

This really depends on where you live as the cost of living varies but I don't think she would need more than $20 if your providing everything for her (meals, clothing, toiletries, haircuts..etc....)
