Financially I have hit rock bottom. I have a 2 yr old daughter and the courts mandated I pay 275 a month for insurance for her. Her daddy isn't steady with paying the child support. With my bills I have 200 dollars in the hole. My only extra I can drop is cable so I would be only 100 in the hole. I was given a choice to move an hour a way from my work to live with my mother or move 10 mins away from my work to live with my friend. My mom has no extra room for me and I would sleep on the couch the days she is home. The baby would be in her room unless her boyfriend was over then we were both on the couch, I would have to pay a lil less bilss. My friend has no child but one small dog. She has an extra bedroom and she is already established. I would be about 300 to the good when bills are caught up. I would have to share a room with my daughter but wouldn't be able to take everything like I have at my own home. I would have a tv in my room. What do I do here?

I have had 3 different parents tell me the following. I think it's inconsiderate, cruel and selfish. I'd like to hear from a larger audience to see if this is truly the thought process of single child families especially if you are a single parent to one child. These 3 different parents on 3 different occasions have told me that if they were to lose their child, it would be devastating. Where as if I were to lose a child, although it would hurt, it would not be as earth shattering as their loss because I have other children. What are your thoughts on this. I think this is a selfish and cruel assumption. My other children can never replace a lost child.

this is a difficult one and i know im going to get a mixed response, but here goes: i was in an abusive relationship with my ex, and left him when i was 2months pregnant with our son. we have had no contact ever since. my son is now 5 and has started asking questions about his dad. i have been to his last known address, with no luck, and only have his mothers address to go on now, although they wern't close. i dont know whether to get in touch with her to see if she knows where he is, or whether to let sleeping dogs lie. im a bit scared of opening a can of worms, but at the same time dont want my son to resent me for not doing it. any advice?

I've invited kids to my dau party, and they've come, then my dau has not received invitations to their parties a few months later. I was taught you must return invitations - that's how people make friends and build communities. I was also taught is extreme rudeness not to return an invitation.
What's changed - the times, or the place(I moved)?
Please no remarks about me being miffed that my kid didn't get an invite - it's got nothing to do with that.

I finally have a babysitter, my daughter is 5 and my son is 2.5. This year, I would like to go out for my birthday at dinner time, just with my husband. I will do the lunch time and a cake if I go out, but I'm curious on other people. Five years of doing birthday hats-yes, even for my birthday-I would finally like to do an adult birthday!

My 5 yr old son will not grasp words!
I have been reading to him since birth
I have been (trying to) teaching him since 2
but he seems to just have this block,
after a painful hour, he will memorize most of a page, but then forget them again
It is driving us mad! we have tried what seems like everything, we don’t get angry, stay calm & reassuring (i must admit have tried telling him off & bribe's too! but it seems like he doesn’t want to learn,
he is in his first year at school, & they are not concerned but bearing in mind they think it is ok for the children to only be able to count to ten, i don’t hold out much hope, the school is trying to teach with phonics, but it just doesn’t work, there are words you just can’t sound out, he is so bright at everything else,2 years ahead in maths, but can’t read, he was writing his name at 2, so don’t get me wrong he is not slow, i have mentioned dyslexia to the school cause I’m dyslexics but they say it's too soon to tell & he's normal ??

Okay so, I need to know what the correct age should be for staying home alone. The child is pretty mature for 14 years old. Her parents will be gone for just 24 hours. Someone please tell me if that child is old enough to stay that long.

I never thought this would happen in the US, but one person told me that his dad did this to him when he was young. He claims that his dad did the right thing because he's become a Harvard grad.

What are your thoughts on this?

I have a wonderful 3 and 1/2 year old daughter. My ex husband is an alcoholic. He drinks heavily and its only gotten worse & worse since we separated 2 years ago. We have mostly tried to stay civil towards each other since, but he would often call me up to 30 times a night leaving horrible messages/then apologizing. In april i took my daughter to drop her off where he lives with his parents and he told me "i hate you, i wish you were dead, you make my life hell," all in front of my daughter. I left with my daughter. I am pretty sure he was drunk. I got a restraining order the next day. His family doesn't take his drinking seriously (even though he hasnt held a steady job since early 2005and he has 3duis) They blame me for his drinking. I know i am doing whats in my daughters best interest, but i never imagined being a single mother, AND having her entire paternal family against me. I am sad for my daughter that they arent in her life. I feel alone. Until he gets help i cant let himnear

My husband and I made the difficult decidion that I will stay at home with the baby. I do have a small income from at-home work, but mostly we rely on his salary. What are some things I can do with the baby that will not cost much or any money?

When I was a girl we always holidayed in England at the seaside and so did I with my boys and we had a great time.
Why is it that these days so many want to fly abroad (often to carbon copies of English seaside towns in Spain or whatever)?.Some say it is for the weather - but children should not have *too* much sun anyway and so that is just selfishness on the part of the *adults* who want to show off a suntan (even if they waste money on tanning machines back here anyway!).
What with the dangers of flying (especially with the terrorist threat) and the fact that they *may* let their guard down abroad (look at the poor McGann mite in Portugal) why not take children on holiday at home? There is plenty to do if the weather is bad - and children love playing around on the beach - and in the sea if they are taught to swim first ! -

you discovered your wonderful one-year-old child is, because of a mixup at the hospital, not yours. Would you want to exchange the child to try to correct the mistake?

I'm really tired of cleaning up sheets all the time! My 12 year old boy wets the bed 5-6 times a week and I'm really tired of it. Sometimes he's playing videogames, and he gets so into it that completely forgets about the restroom and just pees himself! Huggies has a new size 7 diaper and I know it should fit him. I think he needs to go back to wearing diapers, or at LEAST to bed. I just wanna know if I should put the diaper on him if he insists on not wearing it?.. I know I should probably insist until he puts it on himself, but I'm not a patient person and I'll rather do it quick

She's made up things in the past like disorders or allergies she's supposed to have had...then l've seen doctor's letters and certificates stating all clear, no positive results, etc etc. Anyway, at age 3 she had her daughter diagnosed with Autism, after seeing about 25 doctors and therapists in total, the official diagnosis in on the Autism spectrum (based on the Mother's statements and evidence), she doesn't qualify for any therapy time, special ed teaching aide time, or anything. Anyway, her daughter displays NO signs of Autism or anything, but her mother is telling everyone she has Autism, bleding disorders, allergies, etc that AREN'T TRUE, she's ruining the child's life! l've called CPS in the past about the mother, but they say there's nothing they can do. Does anyone have any ideas about anything l can do? l've spoken to my friend, she won't listen, the father is not in the picture. Am l over-reacting, or is there something l should do?

He came up t me about an hour ago and asked me If he can be treated like a baby including wearing diapers. I have know idea in what I'm going to do. Why would he want that? I thought I spent enough time with him as a baby, but another reason he might want this is because his father left when he was born. Does anyone have any idea what I should do?

I have a 7 year old boy and a 6 year old girl who are whining, spiteful, ugly little snotheads who never do anything their parents tell them to do. I've done everything to get them under control. I've tried everything from taking away privileges, to putting them in the juvenile center, to punishing them within one inch of their worthless lives. Behavior has not changed one bit.

I'm running out of ideas. If I don't find a solution soon then I might need to kick them out of the house.
