a child of 18 years of age killed in auto accident?

I saw a video from ABC News on the web about children behaving in restaurants. When I was a youngster, I behaved that way. How about you? You know what would I do if I had children and they misbehave in restaurants, I would give them a warning and if they keep acting that way, they will be in the car full stop (I would roll up the windows if hot outside.). I learned that technique from ABC's Supernanny. To keep them occupied during the visit, I would have them bring crayons and coloring book and other stuff. Would you have a plan in place if you have children that misbehaves in restaurants (You would probably whip them but with all due respect, I am completely opposed to spanking; Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child, etc.)? What would you agree?

Tonight is begining to be horrible. She won't sleep. I can not convince her to go to sleep. I have tried every Nanny 911 trick I have ever seen or heard of. I have established a routine, dinner at 7pm, bath at 745ish, bed at 830. She gets a bed time story and one lullaby. Then she wants to sing and read to me, then she wants to pat my back so I can sleep.....and it goes on and on. So I decided that I will read one story and leave, I am in the room across the hall (computer room) And she is staring at the cieling talking to herself like a crazy lady. This has been going on for over an hour now. She cannot see me, she has a very small night light. WHAT ELSE SHOULD I DO?!?!? She isn't getting out of bed or running around or anything. This has been her routine for almost a week now.

I will add that my 6 year old has kabuki syndrome and is developementally delayed and small for his age so both my kids look and act like they are the same age. My kids know one is 4 and the other is 6 but I don't think they get what it really means to be two years apart in age yet. They see themselves as equals. My son age 6 no longer needs naps most days but my 4 year old daughter definitely needs naps or she is so cranky. Any advice on how to get the 4 year old to nap without protest when she sees that her brother gets to stay awake?

I don't need anyone to say go to the pediatrician, we were there yesterday. Just wondering if there's any moms with some good home remidies, not to cure obviously, but to help a child or baby with the stomach virus. Throwing up and fabulously explosive diapers:)

I have 4 kids, and 3 of them have the stomach bug. One is a year old, one is almost 2, and the other is 4 years old.

I have tried the cola syrup, not doing it. I am making sure they're drinking, right now they're on the BRAT diet: bananas, rice, apples & toast. They can't keep any of it down, and if they do, they have the diaper issues.

Any moms have any ideas that have worked for them? I'm a little sick of cleaning up these messes and of course I want them to feel a little better until it passes. I've steam cleaned the living room 4 times in past 2 days!!!!

I've been dating this wonderful older woman for about 8 months now and it's really good. She has a 7 year old son from a previous realtionship. Him and i get along great he even calls me "pop". I buy him lots of expensive toys and shoes and clothes without his mother telling me to. For his birthday i bought him a mini dirt bike. Now my friends tell me I'm spoiling him cause i don't have the heart to tell him no. But his mother hasn't said anything to me about it so i keep doing it. I just don't feel right disciplinting a kid who's not my own I let his mother do that. Am i doing the right thing?

I would like to raise my sons be all these things. I love my husband, so I don't want to sound like I am putting him down. However, he doesn't look people in the eye, doesn't stand up for himself, and is very nervous. He is far from confident or charming and has some very feminine characteristics. He has never played sports.

I don't mind that he is this way; I love him! However, I am wondering how to raise my sons as confident charming individuals when they don't have a male role model to teach them. What can I do to ensure that they have outgoing personalities?

Okay so I went to this meeting at school and I got school probation and im gonna get a mentor.. now the principle said its prolly gonna be the person that I want it to be but she wasn't really sure because she's been busy lately and she doesnt know if she can fit me.

Now me and the dean[person i want to be my mentor] are really REALLY close and she's like the only person I like at that school and I know the dean knows it.. but I'm not sure if the principle or anyone else knows it.

Do you think she'll be my mentor? I'm really stressing about this 10 points.

My daughter has a friend and she spent the night over at her house one night. I received a call from her mother, who explained she walked in on them "playing Mommy and Daddy sex". She explained that the clothes were on, but that it spooked her. Her daughter admitted being the one who started the "game" and my daughter agreed that it wasn't her idea. Since the "incident", the little girl has joined my daughter and I on a trip to the park, and everything seemed to have cooled off. Recently, we have been away a lot, and now the two are crossing paths again in the neighborhood. My daughter is telling me this girl is ignoring her now and telling the other kids my daughter is mean. I fear that her mother is telling her to avoid my daughter. I don't know how to handle this. It's not MY daughter's fault, and she is being treated awful now. It breaks my heart. How do I explain this to my daughter and should I confront the other mother? Ahh!! What should I do!?!?!?! :(

I threw a banana cream pie (or perhaps coconut creme or lemon meringue, but you get the idea) in my English teacher's face? We have had our differences, so throwing a pie seems like a harmless way to make an emphatic point.

Personally, I do not see what the big deal is because pies are soft and it would wash off in the next laundry. She certainly does not wear expensive clothing. I was thinking of just asking her if she had any food allergies first, just to be on the safe side.

Would you be upset if your 16 year old daughter threw a pie at a teacher?

Thank you and good day.

I am not saying ALL children or ALL parents - but there seem to be more and more boorish parents that think nothing of allowing their unruly children to run wild and disrupt everyone else's enjoyment.

When I pay good money to enjoy a restaurant meal - I don't expect to have to listen to screaming tantrums or witness rugrats running wild between tables. I recently attended an adult themed film that was COMPLETELY ruined by some half-witted troglodytes who felt it appropriate to bring infants to a late screening. Presumably they didn't have to pay the kids' admittance and saved on not having to pay a sitter - but EVERYBODY else's experience was ruined (not to mention how violently inappropriate the film was for kids) Even more rude and ironic was the fact that the film was about a world without children!

So what gives - do these rude parents figure that since they're tied down and can no longer have fun that nobody else should either? Do they think - in addition to already funding schools and playgrounds that somehow society owes them MORE? Are they so blinded by unconditional parental love that they cannot fathom how their spawn might annoy others? Is it just the nature of our 'me first' society?

My daughter is now 13 months old, we have had an alarm for all the children. When she was tiny, it used to go off quite a bit, she would move off the sensor pad or hold her breath. I took her to the Doc and he said she's fine - no health problems.
As she's gotten older, I have switched the alarm on by habit really. It hasn't gone off since......I cant' remember, it's so long.
In the early hours of this morning, the alarm sounded on two occasions. I ran to my baby and put my hand on her chest to check, and both times, she just calmly took a breath in and was fine after that.
I am 'On Pins' now. Why did that happen? Will she do it again?
I thought that as her body matured, it wouldn't happen unless there was something wrong.
Can anybody help with an explanation?

they scream about everything. when they're excited, scared, frustrated, angry, bored. watching sports, talking on the phone, in an argument. and all 18 of them (at least 5 times a day each). it's gotten to where i can decifer between a bad scream and a good scream. bad scream is when Jonah is playing in the toilet because his older sister is supposed to be watching him and she's on the phone, and he flushes it and his foot gets stuck. a good scream is when zoe's happy because the wiggles are on. even the teenagers scream. it's been like this for about 3 years, you'd think i'd get used to it by now, but enough is enough. please help...
