my sister in law, neice and baby sister are all 7 years old. none have had the sex talk, i did when i was only 5. my dad gave it to us so my mother has never had to do it and im worried she wont, which is why i feel like i had sex so early (my dad literalty told me sex is for the devil and stuck with that). my sister in law is almost 8 and im sure my neice will be getting the talk soon if she hasnt already but when is really a good time for them to understand the whole talk? where babies come from, cheating on lovers, lesbians, gays, virgins, masturbating, ect...

It is good you are thinking ahead, perhaps you are thinking a bit too far ahead, sometimes or should I say? along time ago in a galaxy far away :), the time to offer such information was when you heard a question come from the child that warranted "THE NEXT STEP" aka THE BIRDS AND THE BEES, however todays children are not yesterdays adults :) they are more complex and have more issues to deal with than I care to think about, infact we live in a time where the term "PROSTITOTS" actually has a meaning,, I will expand on this term if you ask, but to answer your question directly, what kind of environment does your group of kids find themselves? if they are listening to Disney Radio I suggest you wait awhile, if they feel pain for what Britanny Spears is going through right now, you should be looking at putting them on the pill tomorrow, Environment and what a child is allowed to be exposed to may determine when and what you prepare or protect them from, every sitation is diffrent, take a look at the environment they are in and let that dictate when and what you share with them.

I think you should wait longer.
I got the talk at 10 yrs. old. That is also the age l had to go to school and see the video.
Most schools do have all children view the movie. I think you should leave it to the teachers at school, heath teachers. They know really what they are talking about, and can explain many questions that you or your husband and friend cant. Telling them too early can be bad. Tehy might go around telling kids who dont know and get in trouble whereas when all kids will know, its just more safe.
Also, the younger ones will get grossed out and soon it will slip their minds, so when they do learn about it in school, its will be a total shock. So its kinda a waste of time. They wait until the older ages to show the video for a reason. Let them wait until the talk.
