they scream about everything. when they're excited, scared, frustrated, angry, bored. watching sports, talking on the phone, in an argument. and all 18 of them (at least 5 times a day each). it's gotten to where i can decifer between a bad scream and a good scream. bad scream is when Jonah is playing in the toilet because his older sister is supposed to be watching him and she's on the phone, and he flushes it and his foot gets stuck. a good scream is when zoe's happy because the wiggles are on. even the teenagers scream. it's been like this for about 3 years, you'd think i'd get used to it by now, but enough is enough. please help...

You know what worked with both of my kids was when they were little and both decided to do this, I would at the top of my lungs scream until they looked at me like a crazy lady. Normally in the car or at home, not in public. Then when they were quiet I looked at them and told them see screaming doesn't solve anything but just making noise.

The older kids are old enough to know better, start telling them that if they don't set good examples they are going to start losing priviledges and then follow through. Take the phone time and all the extra fun stuff away. Explain to the younger ones about inside and outside voices.
With little ones normally they like doing that because it's kind of like a game. Good luck.

Scream with them. But be louder. I did this with my oldest son when he was going through the terrible twos. H e would scream until the neighbors thought I was killing him. One day I laid down in the floor beside him and screamed and hollered and kicked my legs in the air just like he did. It scared him to death and he hasn't screamed since. Just think about it, a grown parent screaming and hollering should scare anyone, especially the teens. Have fun and let it go mom. SCREAM

Let them know that from now on any screams inside the house will be punished by either time out in the corner or loss of either tv, telephone or other priviledges. If they want to scream, take it out into the yard and play as loud as they want.

You have 18 kids? Did you adopt or foster them? Getting them to stop screaming will be nearly impossible. Maybe lay some ground rules about when its appropriate to act crazy and when it's not. oh and a good butt whooping does help a lot. and I am not talking about hauling off and punching them or really abusing them but spankings go along way whether or not people believe in them

You have 18 kids?!?! Just bribe them not to scream, tell them that you'll take them somewhere special or give them something if they don't scream for a whole hour or day or whatever.

They learned it from you. If you want them to listen to you, speak VERY softly. If they learn that you don't speak loudly, they won't either.. they will learn that to hear you they have to listen closely and then punish when they didn't hear you... Never raise your voice, they will yell back. It may take some time since you have allowed it so long, be persistant and punish yelling.

How about some timeout?
Tell these unruly children if they dont stop, your running away. Leave the house and have the father of these children watch these awful monsters. They lack dicipline, and respect. Your tired of it I guess so, after 3 years, it would drive anybody insane.
