yes, i think i really needed to get spanked as i was bad and my mother got angry at that moment. That little girl is my neighbor and she visited us before i get spanked. She seems that not care to see my half nake body. However, do you think a boy aged 9 can be spanked like that in front of a little girl?

I have a 9 year old son (with DS) and a 4 year old daughter (no DS). Occasionally, I have other people's children ask me about why my son doesn't talk. How do you respond to it? How can I teach my daughter to respond? One time, a child said that he "doesn't talk" or he "can't talk".....I just said that some day, he WILL talk and that he is just taking a long time. My daughter seems to know and understands that he doesn't talk (in sentences - only single words) and she doesn't ask me about it. She is a little chatter-box. Should we involve her in helping to teach my son to talk?

I heard a very loud banging sound and when I went to see what it was I saw my son (3 yrs old) was opening the door to my daughter's room (4 months old) and banging it shut over and over. She was taking a nap in there! So I grabbed him by his wrist and I placed him in his room. But when I was walking away I heard him crying hard and holding his wrist. Just the way he was crying it made my stomach feel like it was turning. So I watched to make sure he could move it and he could and it seemed to not hurt as much as time went by. I went in a few minutes later and asked him if it hurts and he said a little. I had him move it around a lot and that didn't hurt him so he is now ok, but I feel so bad though!! Has anyone grabbed their child out of anger and seriously injured them when placing him/her in time out or in their room, etc?

My soon-to-be 8yr old son is having a birthday party.... He doesn't play with any toys and doesn't ask for anything for his birthday besides money to spend on vacation...Last year, on his invitations, he wrote "I love gift cards". Is it appropriate to write "I prefer cash gifts" on his invitations this year? Any toys he receives will never be played with.
Is there another way to word this request?

I have a 18 year old daughter who lives with her 1 year old baby in my house. Since she dropped out of highschool, she's at home doing not much. I really want her to finish her education, so that one day she'll be able to be independent. She is not sure what she wants to do and she's not very keen to start something. I feel, that by now, my granddaughter is old enough to spend some hours in daycare, so that my daughter could either start looking for a job or go back to school. My daughter feels, that since her Dad pays child support for her, there is no need to work and everything else will just happen one day. But for me it has nothing to do with money, but everything with taking charge of your own life. I was a young mother myself, but I've finished college with 2 kids (now I have 4 and the youngest is 3) and I've worked all my life. How can I help my daughter to get on her own feet and off my back? What are her responsibilities and what are mine?

My heart wants them, my common sense says no. I think of things like how am I going to provide for them? All those things? It just does not seem pliable or sensible to have any. I am 30 now, am I doing the right thing?

I still will vote it down. If you want to take out the section which makes it illegal to use a implement, and define what a "deadly weapon" is fine, everything else I agree with. I know parents who use paddles, and belts. They are doing a fine job, with wonderfully behaved children. I will not support a bill which limits their ability to parent. I also won't support a bill which involves more government intrusion in our lives. We have a law on the books which defines abuse as permanent marks left (bruises, welts, blisters) other then temporary redness. This is A-OK by me, and the way the law should stay.

I will try and find a link, however I heard this bill was motivated by a man who's 15 month old daughter was killed by a babysitter, who shook her to death. Now really, what does that have to do with parental controlled spanking???? Please someone answer me that.

I agree with Randy Thomasson (bottom of page)

What is your childrens shower step by step (if you help) like washing hair and all that. and what their age is?

Being a mom of a 10 year old, his bath routine is I usually supervise him, I wash his hair since he never does it himself, washes body with soap, gets out and I quickly put lotion on him.

Its pretty simple for him lol. So whats yours?

I am doing a Persuasional speech for College and I decided to do it on Spanking and if its Abuse or Punishment. (Persuade the Punishment side)
And I believe that I need a public poll to get some views on this from the people themselves.
Now first, state whether you have been spanked before.
THen state facts about the person you are, meaning: Do you have a family? Have you been charged with a felony? (You don't have to tell me what it was for.)
Then tell me if the spanking you did or did not recieve affected your life today.
THen if you want to give an opinion, okay, but just don't rant off.
I need facts.
Personally, I will punish my future children with spankings. There is no way that I am going to let them off while I received spankings as a kid. I am a kind, warm person who smiles as much as possible and who learned from her punishment that certain actions were wrong. I did not learn to "HIT" others by this. So don't state that spanking only condones hitting.
