I have a very common name where I live so I am all for different names ! I agree that you do need to think about your daughter... she will have this name for at least 18 years of her life (she can change it by deed poll when she is 18).... Is there a significant reason for the name?

You have the right to name your daughter anything you want. But I would think about if she'll like it in the future. You have to carry your name around for life and if you don't like your name...well that would just suck. Slatny sounds a bit odd to me, but if you like and you think your child will too go for it.
