I think spanking is needed at times. Although I dont feel pulling your pants down is necessary. All it does other than hurt more is humiliate the child. I was spanked this way as a child. I also was spanked on the bare bottom with a belt. The problem with that is one time my mom hit me with the buckle instead of the strap end. It was a total accident and she cried with me. That is way hitting with anything other than a bare hand is not right. As far as your mom doing it in front of another child or a girl for that matter it was wrong.
