Because when they are alone they are more open to a possible kidnapping but if your child is in a group with other kids, kidnappers are less likely to attempt to go after a child within that group because he or she might be seen or another child could be brave enough to say something isn't right and get help.

because that would be stupid. There is a world of difference between a 5 and an 11 year old. 5 year olds, no matter how many of them there are can not take care of themselves, they will wander off with anyone who calls them and seperates them from a group that is when the kidnapping etc. takes place. 11 year olds are a little bit better if there is a big group of them but then again people take advantage of them, say at a mall or something may not give them the correct change etc. it is best to have at least one adult supervise children till at the least in Jr. High

Personally, I don't. Even in a group, they're still just little kids. My daughter is 6 and we require her to be with an adult at all times. No exceptions. Even a mature child is still just a child and will make childish decisions. What exactly is a group of children going to do if my kid falls of the jungle gym and breaks her arm? If there is an adult present, he or she can make a rational decision as to what to do. Little kids don't have the experience or know-how to deal with serious issues like that.

I don't think leaving a 5year old out with other 5 year old kids alone is safe.
Children of this age are not esponsible enough to protect them themselves, or even cross a road safe. And this is the same when there is one ckild or many together. In this age, a person is TOO young to be out of his/her house without a responsible adult with them.
But the ages from 5 to 11 are not to put together. I mean, a 11 year old kid can take care himself when a 5 year old just cant.
And, a parent who really care for his/her kids, whould never let a 5-9 years old kid go out alone....

I don't because there are a lot of creepy mean people out there and I don't want them to get any child. So an adult needs to be there to supervise and they are not old enough to make certain decisions that may be needed at the time they are alone.

There are entirely too many dangers in the world that little kids don't know how to deal with. They just don't have the life experience to handle what might come up. They need supervision.

It would be stupid and called neglect and child endangerment..that's why. By 10-11, my child went on walks in the neighborhood without an adult but any younger is just plain foolish.

A 5 year old??? Are you kidding me????????? Too many weirdos out there just waiting to snatch one up. A 5 year old is NOT mature enough whatsoever. NO WAY would I ever consider that. The 10 year olds.....WITH AN ADULT PRESENT. KIDS need supervision!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't trust a bunch of 5 yos walking down some big city street. What if a someone dangerous comes up? They'll try their 'PowerRangers' moves and get their butts kicked. Keep an eye on them.
