I was supposed to go a wedding that is 7 hours away and I have 2 year old. She doesn't like long trips. I talked to the person about not being able to go because of some things I need to do and plus my child won't sit for a long time in a car. She tells me that her brother's daughter had no problem with the trip and that I needed to discipline my child. I told her that the child is more tame than mine and she is a little holder than my child. I didn't say anything but it made me mad because she thinks that I don't discipline my child because she doesn't like to sit in the car for long trips. Do you think that it is right to say a child isn't disciplined because they don't want to sit in the car for a long time?

don't you have heard many times you should know everything befor have a child. In my case personally I think you can learn things before hand but its not actually until you have kids that you learn all the things about parenting trough the way. Theres no way to know all before hand and even when you have read and ask and inform yourself from head to toe you dont you need the experiene the practice to do it. I want to know what you think about this and did you feel the same way?

My 2 1/2 yr old daughter keeps on saying that her baby dolls are dead, and sometimes when we play together she'll cover my mouth and ask if I'm dead.... This really conserns me, although I know that she doesn't really understand it. Is this just a phase that children go thru? Has anyone else had children do things like this?

I have a 9yr old step daughter and have been dating/married to her dad for 5 years now. I have a daughter of my own now who is almost 2 and I definately don't feel the same twards my step daughter as I do my biological daughter. I know some of this is natural but I think there is a bigger than normal difference in the way I feel towards the two of them.
My step daughter is really sweet for the most part but does get into trouble a lot for lying, not doing what she's told, taking too long to do almost anything (homework, eating, getting ready for school). I think I get more irritated with her when she gets into trouble than I would if my own daughter got into trouble. I wish I didn't feel so irritated by her bad/sluggish behavior. She and I get along really well, but the love just isn't there. Do I just have issues or is it normal to not fully accept a step child?

If a teenager has severe nightmares, is it unusual for them to wet the bed? If so, what can be done about it?

i know it may sound harsh or cruel...but should you have the right to know if there is a mentally unstable person living next door or down the street? Since they dont know right from wrong this could be dangerous...i wouldn't want my kid around a person like that and wouldn't it decrease your property value knowing there are metanlly ill people on your street.

Wouldn't you feel more comfortable if you knew which of your neighbors were mental? Also, if you knew before hand...would you still move in next door to one? just wondering...

My mother told me that if I child (under 12 years old) is deprived of sleep for more than 40 solid hours, without a wink of sleep, that they will die.

It is siad to be scientifically impossible for a child to stay awake all day, night and they next day so medical experts claim.
That is why a child can only need 2 hours extra sleep, but find it extremily difficult to make it awake until dawn.

What the F was that all meant to mean?

My milk came in yesterday so I got a pump and started feeding my baby (born: 2-18-07) and shes had diarrhea since. Could that be the change from the pro sobe formula she was drinking or could my milk be upsetting her cuz of something in it? Should I switch back to the formula?

paycheck. I have always wondered, how do they support their family? Pay all the bills and medical expenses? And how do the single parents make it as well?

My husband and I have a 4 yr. old. and with all children she has her moments and she can be a real brat sometimes. I am the "yeller" i will tell her not to do it, i'll do the time out, i'll do the go to your room i don't care if your crying speech.

But i get so frustrated. Once in a while i will give her a small smack on the hand. Nothing hard just so she know that what she did was REALLY bad.

My husband on the other hand is a military man and with this comes stict discipline and spanking. When he come home our daughter is an angel does what she is told and behaves. As soon as she starts to lose all my husband has to do is give her a stern look and she'll stop!

What is up with that? He believes in Spanking and often does when she gets out of control. Nothing abusive, just a couple swats on her bbottom and straight to her room she goes. I am on the fence about this and really don't know if it is good or band and how should i handle this situation.

My friend's daughter is 14 and a really good kid. She babysits for me sometimes, and for a few other people I know. Anyways she has been saving up for a really expensive pair of shoes. She has finally reached her goal, but my friend won't allow her to get them because she thinks they are a waste of money. I admit they are a little bit pricy, but she was responsible enough to earn and save her own money. I figure she should be allowed to buy them. Right? Anyways she is very upset about it, becuase she really wants the shoes. She asked me to talk to her mom, but what am I supposed to say? Personally, I think her mother is being foolish. It's not like her daughter doesn't know the value of a dollar. Normally she is really good with money. Just this one time she wants these shoes!

He is turning 5 years old and pretty much has an accident everyday, both number 1 and number 2. Mother is aware and since he is not allowed to have candy, we reward him with stickers when he goes potty. I ask him several times throught the day to go potty and he usually cries that he can't. Sometimes I make him anyway if its been a while since he's gone. I think he plays too much and doesn't want to... I think he is a little too old to be having this many 'accidents' and EXPECIALLY number 2! any advice???
