My 2 1/2 yr old daughter keeps on saying that her baby dolls are dead, and sometimes when we play together she'll cover my mouth and ask if I'm dead.... This really conserns me, although I know that she doesn't really understand it. Is this just a phase that children go thru? Has anyone else had children do things like this?

Death and dying seems to fascinate them around that age.

However, check to see whether she is watching television programmes that are scaring her. Remember some cartoons are scary. So the cartoons that older kids may be watching may be too intense for her

Also, depednding on where you live you need to ensure that she does not watch the news. 2 1/2 year olds are able to pick up on things even when they don't seem to be listening or watching.

If she goes to pre-school you can also ask her indirect questions about what is happenning at school.

Have 3 kids and at that age they can be very scary in terms of what they voice/dream/do.

Good luck!

It could be a phase, but I think it depends on how long this has been going on. I was going to major in Child Psychology, so I know a little bit about kids. You might want to consider talking to your daughter's pediatrician, just to be sure. Hopefully it's just a phase. Good luck!!

Just a childhood phase,it'll go away.Unfortunately you will just have to bear hearing her crazy stories but if you really are concerned you can take her to a child psychologist.

Yeah, my son goes around telling people that if their heart stops, they'll die. I told him today that my grandmother was dying and he calmly told me she'd turn to dust. It's normal, so don't worry about it hon. They all do that. Now wait till they start asking about where babies come from....
