I am a kid so I would know. I am 13 but what ever. The reason is the kids wants you to notice them, they know they can get away with more when you don't feel good, and it might just be it seems like they play up more just because you don't feel good. Hey, I take advantage of it when my mom has a headache and goes to bed early. I sneak out with my friends. Even if it isn't night. It is almost alwayz fun for a kid to do something sneaky or wrong and you get away with it. Sa the previous answerer said, I try to give my mom rest that way I can leave. IT will never get better.

Not all kids are like that. Teach them about empathy. Mine is happy to go and do something in her room quietly when I have a headache (which is fairly common). Also, for the younger ones you can provide special quiet stuff (crafts, comp games, etc) that are offered only on special occasions when they need to be less "noticeable"; IE when you have a headache, the flu, an appointment, special dinner, etc.
Good luck.

Healthy kids play up all the time. If you have a headache you will be only more sensitive to the activity and noise. Remember that you were one of them once and learn patience.

For some reason, they have a radar that says act up act up when mama's sick or want to be left alone...Just tell them to leave you a lone and act like you are crying and when they say what's wrong, tell them that you don't feel good and you need peace and quiet. Hey, you might even get a message, a rub down or you hair brushed by your kids if you ask them...

Probably because they are not getting attention. Selfish Mum, nursing your headache and ignoring your little darlings!!

Really!!! And they only want to talk to you when your on the phone. Or have to go pee when you are in a place where there are no bathrooms. The joys of parenthood. I know my children are giving me the same lovely stuff I gave my Mum.

Mostly for attention. They can sense that you are not totally with the program like usual, so they do things to try and make you snap out of it.... of course not realizing that they are making it worse...
I hope your head feels better!

I think they're all born with little radars. It's like when they're newborn and you finally get to sit down to a meal ~ they squak.
You get on the phone with something important and they're in your face asking you questions.
Just wait, they'll have their own little turds one day and get what's coming to them. lol!!!
Hope your head feels better soon.
