They'll probably check that the set done in the ER stayed in place. If it needs to be fixed they'll do that. If the swelling is down they may cast it at that visit. If the swelling isn't down they may have to wait for that. They should give you a recommendation for what activities she can do. If she goes to pre-school or day care make sure they give you a note for them, too.
It's nerve wracking and scary to have a child break something but they tend to be really resilient and bounce back well.

You will probably need more xrays and doubtful she will need surgery. Babies are resilient and they heal really quick. More than likely they will put a cast on it. Kind of wonder why they did not put it in a cast at the ER. Don't worry she will come through this and you will too. Talk to the specialist about bone density and your baby. It take alot for a toddler to break a bone. They bend more than us. Don't be afraid to ask the specialist anything you are concerned about. Write it all down and take it with you. It is easy to get caught up in the moment and forget what you wanted to ask. Been there done that.

An inquisition - be prepared they are going to interview you like you have never been interviewed.
Children this age have spongy bones and whenever a Dr sees an injury in a child this young they get suspicious.
They will not only want to rule in/out if you actually caused the injury if they believe you didn't intentionally harm the child then they will be questioning the level of supervision being provided in the home.

If you mean it literally, they will have to put a...god, I dont know how you say it in english, that white rock thing. At that Age, bones are very sensible. You should expect to be asked how she did it, because they sometimes could accuse you of beating the child.
Happened to me once..I was 5, I climbed up the furniture to change channels on the tv, The furniture, was like 5.8 tall, and the satellite box was over it, well, the furniture and tv felt on me, and I broke a bone in my ankle...they thought my mom was responsible for it...

when my son broke his femur bone he went into surgery right away to have rods put in his leg vs. a cast because he broke the bone right in half. since you are being referred to a specialist and they put it in a splint you should only be looking at a cast.

If they didn't cast it at the ER and referred you to a specialist, she may need surgery.

They might put a cast on it and they will go over with you how to bathe the child and what care is needed.

Children have growth plates in their bones - if they break, the bone stops growing. They probably want to check that out and take care of it, if needed.
