I feel like I get into such a rut sometimes. How do you keep up with everyday chores and taking care of everyone around you without breaking down? Am I the only one who feels this way?

By way of background, I am the single father of a 2 .5 year old girl, two lovely cats, and a rare-bread Mexicalla Chinchilla. I love the cats and Chinch dearly! Anyway, many nights my daughter cries uncontrollably to the detriment of the cats and Chinchlla. I was wondering if any of you give your kids tylenol PM or other medicines mixed with some warm juice to calm the kids down and get them to sleep. I did this once this week, and it worked great - I was able to enjoy a wonderful night with the other "kids" and even was able to have the Chinchilla run around freely through the house and loved watching the hijinx it encountered LOL!!!!!

But I'm concerned that this may be illegal . . . . is it?

I was married with my daughters dad for 8 years and we have been divorced for a 2 1/2 years. I was with my previous boyfreind for a year and now we are no longer togather. For the last month I have started going out with friends just to get my mind off of men. I have been going out about twice a week and my father always cares for her when I am out so she is in good hands. Can my daughter notice that I am not at home as much as I used to be? How does this make her fill?

I just want to know what people think, I mean I know there are going to be people who will say that any form of hitting is abuse and it should not happen and some will say the child needs some form of spanking for discipline. I must admit I have recently started to spank my son (3 yrs old) on the butt or the arm when he is really bad and I find it works and lets him know that I am in control. Believe I will try everything else before that but hitting him just once makes a difference in his behavior. Now I used to think it is wrong to hit and never raised a hand to my child and felt that there is no need for it. But recently I have been thinking about me and my brother's childhood. My mother hit us frequently but wouldn't be considered beat us. I never have resentments towards her for that, the funny thing is that I have more resentment towards her for other things like how she wouldn't get up with me to get me ready for school, like how she never checked my homework or paperwork.

I am just curious...

How many hours do you spend per day with your kids? Weekday hours and weekend hours....

If you have used in your past. Will you tell your kids? When would you tell them? Would you come out and tell or would you wait until you thought they might be in danger of following in your footsteps. Will you tell them all of the drugs you've done or just the 'milder' ones?

hi guys. I am married and my husband has a 6 yr old boy. his mother hates me, and is jellous as we have just bought a house together and the little boy loves coming up our house.he comes on weekends.his mother is now stopping him from coming up to see myself and his father and she says I have nothing to do with her son.she needs mental help because she has screws loose but I am only 19 and get called immature and childish and not a mother by his ex.she slapped myself and my husband in the face last night but i did not retalliate because we have got the police involved to charge her with assault.I do not know how to deal with this women coz she just shouts and screams in the middle of the street when we try to speak to the little boy.I dont know what suggestions you have for me.I recommened to everyone that you marry a guy with no strings attatched.I didnt think about this coz it used to be okay coz his ex thought it was just a fling and it wouldnt last.she is a crazy physcho!!! help!

I'm a single mother of one. I started dating the man I thought was my best friend of 6 years over a year ago. Things were OK, we got engaged in May, pregnant in July (planned), then I broke it off after he displayed a violent temper towards me and in front of my child in September. I tried to give it another chance simply for the sake of my unborn son, but it has fallen apart again (same reason and cuz of constant disrespect he shows me). I won't go back to him, ever.
He's decided that he will "only do what the court says I have to and that's it". I believe I would be better off moving on with my life as if he doesn't exist. I have good men in my life in family and friends, and this bio-dad will be across the country after my move next summer. Should I bother with the whole court process of getting support and, if he asks, dealing with cross-country visitation with a baby? The support $$ would be insignificant; he makes little and supports two other children already.

If a 9 year old occassionally still wets the bed and even on occasions can't make it to the bathroom in time for a bm is this something that needs to be addressed medically or physcologically or is this normal at that age? I always thought it was because of just getting too caught up in video games or something or just being plain lazy. Please give me your input on this subject.

I'm an 18-year-old girl. When I was 14,I got pregnant and at the age of 15 I had my daughter - the best present from God!My parents were mad and even didn't let me live with them any longer, but I had friends who helped me and now I live with my daughter in our own house,I continued school and even though I don't have many friends,my life is getting better and better. It's difficult but the happiness to be a mother can't be compared with anything else in the world.I just wanted to share that to other parents. If someone feels like me,you can email me (sweetange666@yahoo.com).I'd be glad to find new friends in similar conditions as me(parents).

I borrowed by Dads car for a date since my bf's car was in the shop and i had forgotten to pick up mine from the mechanics because it needed an oil change.Since my parents were away i was lazy and just borrowed theirs.Anyway i decided it was time to loose my virginity so to be romantic my bf got wine from his parents place, got some sheets, flower petal and two candles. We parked in my favorite spot with a great view.Everything was perfect and we were cuddling afterward till the car started rolling backwards because we forgot to put the parking break on.The candles fell and the back seat caught on fire.Needless to say the car was damaged luckily we put out the fire but the back of the car hit another and the back is dented.

I have 3 YA kids who now have their own jobs and live on their own. How much money would be appropriate to spend at Christmas? I am not rich, but have always given them lots of presents at Christmas. It just seems that the older they get the more expensive the presents get.
I am thinking around $100-$150 each
plus, I have 3 step children who are grown and 3 step-grandchildren that I buy for as well.

K..so there's a boy in or nieghborhood that is a known bully and has caused several problems. Yesterday, he was outside with my boys and some other kids and started picking on my younger son and hit him. My oldest son then punched him...HARD...in the eye. Gave him a lovely shiner. Now I punished my son and made him apologize. I understand that he should stand up for himself and his brother and that this kid deserved it, but...we have always told our boys that fighting is the last option. The reason my son got in trouble is there were numerous adults he could have brought the problem to and instead he chose to fight. Now here's where the problem comes in, he's now a local hero, all his friends are cheering him on and the other parents are quietly cheering him on too. Obviously I had to punish him right? I mean I can't promote violence as a first option.

Time and time again, I've heard the pleas and felt the sadness of middle children. I just feel I should spare this bit of advice. I know exactly how you feel. I'm a middle child too. To be honest, I've always felt out of place even in my own family and "different" from the other 2. This is called the Middle Child Syndrome. It's something I've never gotten over...It was worse in my teen years, I did alot of things to get attention; run away from home, smoke, bad company, etc. I'm 20 years old now and to be honest, the "middle child syndrome" has never quite left me. But I've learnt to live with it. You will too. It's easier to accept the things you cannot change then to fight it. Parents in general, love their children equally. However, each child is given different treatment whether they care to admit it or not. Often, the middle child is "neglected" in the area of attention.

what phrase that your parents used to say do you find yourself repeating?
mine is that i find myself telling my children that" while they are under my roof "etc.etc. we all know the rest.
just curious to know if anyone else finds themselves repeating things from their childhood that really irritated them.

Ok see i have a 5 year old son and i am thinking about having another baby (I'm 27) and i am asking you all did your older kid(s) pay any bit of attention to the youngest, did they get along?

Do you think it would be a huge age gap if i were to have another one maybe in the next 2-3 years from now?
Also were your kid(s) jealous of the new baby?

Thanks

This subject is very near to my heart b/c I'm a daycare worker and I can't for the life of me figure out why parents shove their responsibilities off like this.

I am NOT speaking to parents who legitimately have to work I am speaking of those who don't have to or that do (like teacher of all people!!) who leave their kids at day care from 6 am -6 pm EVEN ON HOLIDAYS. Some parents have even admitted that they just feed their kids dinner and put them to bed when they get home which means they spend all of 3 or 4 hours with each other a DAY!! I don't know what they are thinking b/c as much as I love their kids I'm not going to raise them in a few hours.

How do you feel on the subject of daycare raising children? Is this lack of parenting running society?
