Two of my boys (14 and 11) did something really stupid this afternoon and I'm so frustrated about now. Before dinner tonight they decided to use our garden as slip'n slide. I'm not kidding. It is extremely muddy out there and they showed up at the back door just caked in mud. They both completed ruined probably over $100.00 in clothes and shoes.

I expect my 11 year old to act up sometimes but my 14 year old is acting like he's 10. So anyway, I had them both strip down outside at the backdoor. I took them both upstairs and threw them both in the shower and rinced them off.

Both of my kids thought it was funny and were really smart about it so I told them they earned a spanking and they are grounded from outside for a week. I spanked the 11 year old right after we got done in the bathroom and my 14 year old just got it from my hubby about 15 minutes ago. We don't spank the kids that often, but I feel they deserved it.

Lately i acquired a family secret through a family friend that i was adopted at 2months old.Iv'e confronted my adoptive mother about this: asked her why she kept this secret from me.She cried & confessed to me that my birth mother was a poor 18 y.o. girl who got pregnant early & didn't know what to do.She told me also that they adopted me because they wanted a boy at the time...hence all of my adoptive siblings are all girls. I had sleepless nights, bouts of depression over this and it's affecting people around me:co-workers,my employer,my friends and most of all,my adopted family. Now Mind You: i have no regrets whatsoever by being adopted by avery caring and loving family: they raised me right w/all the proper values and educated me. Here's my question: Why in the World do women do this?...don't they even realized that they're child who they gave away knowingly grows up not complete coz they don't know their real Mother? do i have the right to curse and resent her for what she did?

I'm a single father, 26. 4 kids (3 yr old triplets, 1 yr old) I dont understand how my kids go to friends houses and come home saying they ate fruit roll ups, mcdonalds, mac and cheese, hot dogs, for dinner or in their friends lunches...
I only buy organic food if possible or at least healthy food. My kids have never eaten at Mcdonalds before friends parents took them without my permission, my kids eat apples, veggies, cherrios, organic crackers for snacks.. not fruit roll ups and doritos. I dont even own that kind of junk. Am I wrong by this? I understand when my kids are older they will more then likely eat not so healthy but I want to instill in them these values now... eating free range chicken nuggets, healthy snacks, organic food.... and I do not appreciate parents feeding my kids these foods... My kids love the food I give them but now also want that crap. Is it wrong of me to say something to the parents?

Our 14 year old daughter got mad and used the "F" word. We need ideas of what a good punishment would be. Just "talking" about what she does never works. So, any ideas?? IDEAS only please. Thanks.

why from what i hear and see are parents worried about telling their children that santa ,or the tooth fairy or over fantasy characters exist should childrens dreams be taken away is this why so many children grow up too quick? and want to be in pubs at 13 or 14 and why we have so much trouble with youngests today and drugs because no dreams are given to them i believed and i wasnt angry when i found the truth i thought they were beautiful tales my sons face lights up when i tell him santa is coming and hes 3 is this wrong for me to tell him abut santa and not about all the problems in the world should he know about all these tragic stories the truth as people say or should he be a child with imagination and happiness

So I have this friend. She has 7 kids.. ages 19, 16, 11, 8, 5, 3, and 7 months. Their house is a complete disaster. So much junk, clutter, dirt... barely a walk way through rooms. The kitchen has dirty dishes piled up that look months old. The rugs looks like it has never been vacuumed and parts of the house have no rugs, just plywood floor. The house is just a complete wreck and is sooo horrible. She is my friend, but now I want to report her to social services!

What makes a house unsafe for kids? They have a crib for the 7 month old, but it is filled to the brim with junk so I don't even know where he sleeps. They have running water and heat, so is their house a concern? Is excessive dirt and clutter enough for Social Services to be involved.

I have been telling her for months and months to clean her house, and she has been telling me she has been working on it... but I just saw it today and it is HORRIBLE!

Should I report her?

My girlfriend's daughter is a brat--plain and simple. I have tried to get the message across to her that for eveyone's sake she had to do something.

I was out doing Christmas shopping and in this gift shop saw this little paddle with the words "Heat for the Seat" written on it and a cartoon pic of a kid bending over with a red rear.

I had a moment of ephiphany. I recalled the legend that Santa has been known to deliver a bag a coal and a bundle of switches to naughty kids (in fact I have mentioned this to my own a couple of times).

So I bought the paddle and plan on wrapping it up as a gift from Santa. In Hallmark they had these tiny bags of coal to give as a joke --so I am going to include that.

I also bought a nice gift.

I am very close with my gf. She knows how I feel. She feels spanking would be a good idea--but is a waffler. Whether she does or not I want to send a serious message there needs to me discipline in a funny way.

What do you think?

My youngest boys 8 and 11 year boys old spent the night at my Mom's this weekend. My Sister's boys also spent the night too. My sisters kids are 4 and 7. I found out today that my mom had all the kids take a bubble bath togther in their big soaker tub, and yes they were all nude.

My kids both told me they had fun, but is this something I should address with my mom or let it go? I very rarely bathe my kids together anymore unless we are really pressed on time.

I know this Q will bring many angry responses, but its a burning question i have to ask.
Do their own inadaquacies bring them to a proffession where they can profess to b good role models to children/parents?

you may remember me asking about the teddybear and my 13 year old son, thank you all for the reinsurance, i and all of you where right.

anyway, feeling a bit foolish for ever having doubts, i told my dad (sons grand dad) the whole situation. and he went mad! he called my son a "******", which is a rude term for a gay if you dont know. my son wasnt in the room, but still just a bad. he went mad, he called me a terrible parent saying i was too soft and i should of put that bear in the bin when he was 10(desided not to mention my 10 year old still has his bear too)

and after a little rant, he told me he was going to take my son away for a week over the christmas hoildays to man him up. well i was furious and i said no, no way in hell! but he went and told my son anyway they where going to have a trip togther, and this is where the problem is.

my son wants to go - he wont take no for an ansewer and i dont want to tell him his granddad called him a ******

Honestly wrongfully turned in for false prescription drug abuse. Dropped UA, came back clean. I take only what I am prescribed. Since then, they began weekly visits. 3x's a wk, 1 hr each. I NEED legal advise, or simply...NEED to hear your stories. I am not seeking to hear from abusive & neglectful parents, but ones who have CLEARLY BEEN ABUSED BY THE SYSTEM, THOSE WHO HAVE DHS/CPS INVOLVED OR WHO HAVE HAD THIER CHILDREN WRONGLY REMOVED. OR OTHERWISE k

I'm not talking about you personally. I'm talking about parents in general as a whole. Do you think parents (even when their children are at a young age) practice foresight? Do you think parents really take that responsibility to heart--almost like a job--and do their best?

Now, I’m talking about you. How do you feel about parenting books in general? What is your main concern as a parent? Do you think the parents who do not take parenting seriously will some day have an effect on your own children?

I’m just curious. I’ve been noticing more and more my own awareness of parenting. I’ve been really nervous (as I’m sure many parents are) about what I do now and the effects it will have on my children later. By all means, I’m confident about my parenting abilities and I’m always trying to improve but it’s so hard to figure out fact from fiction when there are so many “experts” out there.

Do you choose to follow an "expert's" advice? If so, which one and why?

I'm newly wed to a divorced dad of a 8yr old son.Jim's exwife is very bitter about this and jealous of me.I think i have made the situation worse by getting involved in the childs school.I attend parent/teacher conferences with jim and other functions. This has really pissed his ex off as she feels she should be the one going with jim not me.She has sent a very nasty letter to the school board saying i am not to have any contact with her childs school.Have i over stepped my bounderaries as a step parent?Should i just back off for now?Jim likes me to go with him but if she is going to make a stink about it he will not stick up for me,as he feels it will just hurt his son.

I have 3 kids. One girl age 7 who is the quiet one.....she's the one we never have a problem with. One girl age 7 (she's my step daughter) who is a tomboy and my son who is 6. My step daughter and my son run through the house yelling...screaming....all the time!! They are just playing i guess.....they have their share of fights too of course. They just seem to drive me nuts!!! I grew up an only child so i am used to having to play alone and it being quiet....etc...like my daughter is.....she's in her room playing on the computer and the other 2 are running around like wild animals. I wish sometimes that they could be more like her....I know that's not possible. They all have their own personalitlies but other than taking xanax what can i do to help myself be used to the noise and wild playing??

I have a 4 year-old nephew who is very determined NOT to believe in Santa. Its not that we've told him that there IS no Santa, he is just a very logical child and he cannot see the logic in flying deer and a plump man in a red suit. I don't know HOW he is so freaking logical, but he is. How on Earth can I convince this child to use his imagination?

My 3 year old son is very afraid of our pet german sheppard. My husband says that only way to break our son out of this fear is to lock him in the closet with the dog for a couple of hours so that he will see that the dog is friendly. I don't know if this is a good idea but my husband insist that this is the only way to handle it. He says that whenever he was afraid of anything his mother always locked him in the closet with snakes, weapons and strangers. Do you think that this is a good idea or should we try something else?

my friend has a fatherless 6 year old who is the most rotton child i ever encountered. he is only 6 but he can lie cheat steal manipulate and talk back to whoever is in his way. he wants everything he sees, half the time just because he sees it. and if you dont buy him everythig at the store, you better make sure he ain't pocketing anything the little sh*t. he go down the aisles 'everybody hates me, i never get anything' . i told him all he had to do was be good in the store and he can play xbox when we get back to my house, hell no he can't remain calm in the parking lot. i don't think the little brat even knows what being good means. and it's hard for me because i don't always see him, i can't disciplne him. if i had him he would be in a toyless room for a very long time, till he figured it out that you have to behave, oh i'd beat him if he talked like that, on the way back from the store he tell s his mom to shut up, i told him he is NOT allowed to say that to his mother
