I was also at a loss for my 3 yr old. What I first did, was when he wasn't around, I cleared out the toy room, threw out the stuff he doesn't play with (actually giving them to Salvation Army). So then I knew what he had. Then, went onto Toys R Us website, selected age 3-4, shop by gender, and they give you alot of ideas. Good luck. Try going the educational route, maybe get some educational games.
Good Luck

Hi, I agree at that age starting ballet classes if you think she likes dancing, but also gymnastics do help through life for keeping the body supple and fit. I am afraid we all can only assume they will enjoy it. Also depends on weather she`s a little girl, or a tom boy, again this will shed which way she might be inclined to lean. Seriously I think she is just a little too young at the moment to put any plans into action, leave her for a while at least till she starts school and mixes with children they soon have ideas together, as to what they want to do, or even what they want to be. \Treat her at the moment, with what you say small things to open, and in stocking, but get her a selection of new clothes, something more practical for the moment. Have been there, spent loads of money on different things both girls and boys, only for them to change their minds later on, also thought what a waste of money, but at the end of it all they only live once, and I wouldn`t change any of them.

I would buy her one of those disney princess toys, that it's an oversive shouldler neck and head for little girls to play with. They have a kind in barbie too. Also a kitchen set, a vaccum, broom, plastic food, etc..Books are always great.

Leapfrog learning toys. They are great for kids that age. They have games you can hook to the TV that are educational and all kinds of stuff for that age.
Or art stuff, drawing board so she can color and fingerpaint.
Large legos, it's always fun for kids to build stuff.
Or even stroller, bed, highchair set with a baby, little girls love that stuff!!!
good luck

What about some books? Kids can always use books. That would give you guys bonding time. Or maybe some kids movies? Depends on how much you really want to spend. If i knew what your limit was i could probably give more suggestions. :) Im sure that she will love whatever you get her! :)

You can look around on Shopallstoresonline.com and get some ideas....maybe a "themed" toy box for all those toys! (will keep the house clean!)

Books, DVD's, outside toys for the warmer months, what I usually go before holidays and birthdays is clean out all the broken and unused to toys and donate as much as I can to my daycare.

Learn and play toys for her age group...she is getting close to starting school and it will give her a head start and children love to learn and play because they don't know they are learning.
