I have managed to break the mould of mother/daughter a little. I tried really hard. Not because my mum is no good, far from it. If I were more like her things would have been allot easier!
I hardly ever INSIST my children do anything, I ask them politely and give them the reasons. Of course, you cannot reason so well with tiny children, so that is the time to encourage them to not throw things or touch expensive ornaments!
I have to say, my children are extremely unruly until they reach adulthood thanks to the lack of boundaries. for example, if a teacher TELLS them to do anything, they wont until they are spoken to as a person! it is not until they are older, and people treat them as an equal, that my understanding and patience pays dividends. I have to say though, my daughter disciplines her daughter, and my other children plan to do the same with their own, they say that they did not have enough boundaries when they were young. It seems that the age old 'I will never do that with my children' has come full circle.
Sometimes, when I am tired, all the above mentioned by others and more tumble from my mouth. The one I use most is 'Do as you are told...NOW!' A smack across the backside generally follows this!

I find myself saying the same thing. Oh how about this one...I work my butt off to give you everything you need and this is how you repay me. Or as long as you have a roof over your head and clothes on your back and food on the table that's the best you can ask for.

The list is endless really! but most often I find myself saying things like "you've madeyour bed, now sleep in it" regarding relationship problems. "You will never miss the water till the well runs dry" regarding the borrowing of money and the timeess classic "You may lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" regarding people who say they got too drunk because of someone else. hope these help. lol

"quiet - this is a place of business" when being loud in a store
"Go ask your father" I really hated that one
"my roof, my rules" same as you
"your pants and panties don't need the spanking, your bottom does" On taken down pants for the dreaded bare bottom spanking.
"you can do that when your older" I hated that one two.
"what, am i talking to the wall" My dad used to say that to me,
when i would space off durning his explanation of something, usually when I was in trouble.
"Do you think money grows on trees"

"Don't be cheeky to because they'll be the best friend you'll ever have..."
Turns out that side of the family disowned me anyway and I never speak to them! Plus the "sperm donor" (useless pathetic excuse for a father) was the one who uttered this and nothing he said carried any weight so this was bull anyway.

that is an excellent question, there are so many little ditties that i find myself saying to my little girl but the one at the moment as she is being a pain at meal time is, " you`ll sit there till you`ve finished your meal"...I'm not as harsh as my parents because i would have had the unfinished meal the next day but i cant do that to my child......not yet anyway
