My husband and I have a 1 year old son. The problem is that my husband is really prejudice against Asian people. He really really dislikes Asian people. He tells me ALL the time that he is going to teach my son to hate Asians too. I don't want my son to be a racist. Before we had our child, my husband made little comments about Asian people before, but I just brushed it off, not thinking it is that serious. I am black and he is white, so we have diversity problems of our own, I want my son to grow up loving everyone, not just because of the color of their skin. It's sad because my son isn't even going to have a chance to get to know Asian people, he's just going to go by what his dad tells him. I have no problem with anyone, black, white, green, yellow or blue. What can I do? Other than that he is a wonderful dad. Any suggestions will help.

I want to buy a birthday gift for my daughter when she turns one, but not something so expensive that my wallet breaks. My mother did this for me, and I still had the pearl earrings, but I lost one of them inside my house. I don't want to make her feel guilty if she loses them. What is the best place or site to look for these items. Bracelet, ring, earrings, necklace.

I adopted him a few years ago. He has been in therapy for a few months. Went with him the other day and seems he spends all his time in there complained about total BS (like too many chores..like trash and empty diswasher are taxing) and plays out this whole victem thing. He will do dishonest stuff, manipulate, and then when he is snagged, he REFUSES to hold it and be accountible. I have set up reward systems, mirrored making a mistake and owning it happily, talking to him, etc etc. I am at my wits end. I have asked him what the worst is that can happen and I get nothing. Are there any experienced parents or therapists out that that can shed some light on this for me? Know that this is a very good, stable, open and loving home.

My friend is due to have her first baby any day. Her mother has been dating her boyfriend for 1 year, she wants her boyfriend to be called "grandpa" by the baby and family.

My friend and her husband do not want this guy to be called the grandpa of their child. They are not close with him and feel uncomfortable with the idea, especially since they only knew him a month when she got pregnant and he is not married into the family.

My friend's mother says she plans to marry her boyfriend in the next 6 months so they need to get use to the idea of him being the baby's grandpa. My friend's father (who would be the biological grandpa) is dead.

Do you think my friend should just let the guy be called grandpa?

I will be having my second baby in April and he/she will be just less than 2 years younger than my current little boy. What do I need to know about having kids this close together? I am very excited but imagine it is going to also be quite a challenge with a newborn when I have another one that is still so little; and then as they get older I imagine it will be great that they can play together, but am sure jealousy and fighting will some into play too...

Thanks for your advice and tips!

A Gift from your Father
One you will never out grow.

You got it from your father,
it was all he had to give.

So it’s yours to use and cherish,
for as long as you live.

If you loose the watch he gave you,
it can always be replaced.

But a black mark on your name, Son
can never be erased.

It was clean the day you took it,
and a worthy name to bear.

When he got it from his father,
there was no dishonor there.

So make sure you guard it wisely,
after all is said and done.

You’ll be proud the name is spotless,
on the day, you give it to your son.

A divorced mother who is angry with her 11 year old son tells him " people can tell your bad inside" Is this a terrible thing to say, or just an effective way to make him behave? Later she said she meant that if your not nice to mother people can see your bad inside. Would this make someone feel bad about themselves as an adult?

My son hits and it's play hitting, but I have a 7 month old who is getting the raw end of the stick even when she is in her playpen. When he hits I put him in time out, I refuses to hit, because I was abused when I was growing up and I know I would let my anger control me. I keep on putting him in time out and he keeps on hitting and taking her toys, what do I do? I told him that she has baby toys and that he has big boy toys. It still doesn't work. I pulling my hair out from all of the crying my daughter does, what should I do?

What has been your best gift?

We are working couple and no support from family .I have one daughter who is 8 years old.I have got her so many indoor games but she bored with them all. She at times now feels emotionally about being on her own always though we try to spend quality time with her.We are in a job where no families stay near by thus she has no company of her own age.She is sick of cartoons and all indoor games.

I am really worried to cope up with the situation.

Please suggest some serious stuff!!!
