I was thinking about pink and green or pink and purple, but I need to know how I go about designing it.

Why not choose a neutral colour for the walls & carpet & then bring in all the colours that you want in the soft furnishings? Rugs, duvet covers, toy boxes, curtains, lamp shades, that sort of thing.

Then, if you decide that the colours aren't quite right, it would be so easy to change.

There's apparently some research that says that babies as young as four months can show some preference for different colours. The second source listed below suggests that you shouldn't use yellow as babies are prone to cry more in yellow rooms.

Finally, I don't know if this will help or not -

I think that it attempts to explain how you would feel surrounded by different colours & what affect those colours would have on your mood.

Well I have 3 children, and they do change and want things in their room, that suit them. So, I would not go with a theme. Try painting all the wall in different soft pastel colors. One pink, green, blue and purple. This way you can change the decor without having to paint again, before you want to. It is fun tor the kids as they get older. One of the colors is bound to be her favorite as she get older.

Any of the colors you have chosen would be good. I purchased things such as a dressing table that could be transformed into a night stand or storage box so I didn't have to decorate as my children grew older.

I also purchased curtains that had two different pieces and patterns (green panels with toppers that had ducks on them) so that as my daughter grew too old for the ducks, I just purchased an alternate topper that was a little more mature.

I also used cling-on disney characters for her wall that were very decorative and easy to remove.

I did my daughter's room in green. I painted all of her walls one shade of green in an eggshell finish and then I did 10" vertical stripes on two connecting walls in a green that was one shade darker in a satin finish. I then used flowers and butterflies as accents for pictures and other wall hangings. I also bought some white wood letters to spell her name and then glued some green ribbon to the back of the letters and tied a bow at the top to hang them by. It all looks really pretty with white furniture and white trim. I'd be happy to e-mail some pictures of her room to you if you like, so you can get a better idea.

Orange , rEd yelloW all thes coral colors!!!

Pink and green????..... pink and purple work not the other one

what do you mean about designing?? don't do much at some point you will have to change it accordingly to her age and when they are babies they don't care if their room is awsome, do something simple

Wait until she is a teen...then start to worry

Everyone that sees my daughter's room thinks it's great!

Her colors are various shades of purple and greens (softer greens) with accents of hot pink and teal. The basic theme is butterflies and flowers. It looks like a "girls" room, NOT a babies room (though she is a baby). I went to TJ Maxx for lots of "different" looking stuff to put in her room. It is very eclectic.

I'm going to give you a little hint: your daughter isn't going to notice anything in her nursery until she's much, much older. Putting so much effort into a nursery is great, until you realize that she's going to find her own likes and dislikes.

Our son had a safari-themed nursery. So cute, so wonderful...and he likes farm stuff now. That means that everything has to be farm-related. The nice yellow and green walls are now a bright red with a barn scene on one wall.

The sad part is that we spent so much time and energy on his nursery, and he didn't even notice it!

I suggest any furniture you buy you keep neutral so if you have any more kids and ones a boy, the expensive stuff will still work without looking too girlie, as for the rest do what everyone else does and go the pink!

I would do pink and purple/lilac. I wouldn't do the walls half and half with a border, I would do two pink and two purple walls. You can get lots of really nice paints from b and q, sparkles and things like that. Faries or butterflys would be nice too.

Do something colorful, but pink a) is really traditional and b) might not be so popular with her when she's a little older. Our daughter's is half blue, half yellow with a daisy border separating the colors. She's 16 and we've never had to redecorate.
