more than just a peck...

Its not even December yet and my daughter has told me that so and so told her "there's no such thing as Santa, its just your parents". I choose for my kids to experience Santa. I feel if you choose not to, you should tell your kids not to say anything. Its really a personal decision and it annoys me so much! Same goes with the tooth fairy! My daughter hasnt even lost a tooth yet, and already someone has spoiled it for her.
Childhood is magical in my opinion. And for all those who will say "you shouldnt lie to your kids blah blah" yes Ive heard this argument - so dont even bother. I dont tell your kids to believe in Santa - you shouldnt tell mine not to! Phew! Enough already. Comments?

About a month ago we went to a wedding (my hubbys side of the fam) I met his aunt, who seemed really nice. I only had one conversation w/her making small talk. I told her I was going to do a "mommy & me" swimming class w/my 1 yr old. She told me they shouldnt do swim lessons untill age 4. I told her it wasnt a class, just play time in the water, me holding him the entire time. Anyway, I got a package from her in the mail today. She sent me the Super-Nanny book as well as an article torn out of a mag about the reasons you should not put kids in swim lessons until age 4, AND she circled it and highlighted parts!! I am so insulted by this. First of all I have seen that show (supernenny) and my kids DO NOT act like that!! They are well behaved and I have taught them good manners. I am insulted and a bit angry, as I spent no more than 20 minutes with this woman! My hubby thinks I am overreacting. Am I? I would never even give my best friend that book unless she specifically asked for it.

Ok, I know its not a pleasant sight or sound when you see a child screaming at the top of their lungs taking a tantrum. The best resolution? Take the screaming child outside, right? You don't want to hear it, and the parents sure don't want you to either. My daughter had a mega blowout today in wal mart, and we did the proper thing...we took her out to the car and went home. Why do people stare at you like you have a screaming alien in your arms? I got so many bad stares, mumbles, and it made me even more upset these people were judging me! Anyone ever have the same situation? I would really love input on parents and those without children. Was I wrong to take her outside? I know I shouldn't let others stares bother me, but for some reason tonight it did.

How do I make my son have optimal happiness when he is in a blended family? I don’t get along with his dads side of the family at all and because of that, we have no contact unless it’s to do with my son. I just wonder what the best thing to do for this s? I support my son’s relationship with his family and let him have access and don’t say bad things but I feel like he may feel unsettled like he live in two worlds. He is five years old. Any one have this and how do you deal with it? His family lives in different state then us too.

My best friend is a black male.He has a child by a white woman. The white woman is married. Her husband has two kids from previous marriage and they made two together. My friend's daughter is the oldest out of the four kids. She's bi racial and the rest are caucaisen, although she could pass as one.Now my best friend wasn't around his daughter on a consistent basis as she grew. She's 11 years old.The stepdad is a very nice guy and treats her as his own.Now here's the problem, My Black friend doesnt see his daughter on a consistent basis, and sometimes break promises to his daughter but alwas buys her what ever. I know he loves her but I think he is loosing his daughter. She never call him anymore. How can they build better relationship? He doesn't have a car at the moment and uses that as an excuse to not seeing her. She knows him as dad but something is right... Help my friend please

My daughter (8-11) has started snatching things from relatives' houses, small toys etc. that belong to her cousins. She knows that taking things that belong to others is wrong and unacceptable, yet she hides them from us. She has done it several times and we're not sure how to confront her. Please note that we provide everything for her, you might even consider her to be spoiled (not a brat) but I know it's not greed that drives her to perform such actions, since all she has to do is ask if she wanted anything. We've found the simplest things in her stash from stickers to cards to plastic toys. I've had her older sister talk to her, but now she is even more careful when hiding the items. She is very shy, but has friends at school. What could it be? How do you prevent such behavior? And should I take her to a specialist?

Does anyone have any positive or negative thoughts on working moms? I have a 17 month old and a 9 week old. I've been at my job 8 1/2 years now, and I am on maternity leave right now. I am looking for a nanny right now. Will being a working mom hurt my children? My husband also owns two businesses very close to our home.

My daughter is out growing her toys like no tommorrow... is there any place where i can take the toys to to sell them... it's too cold to have a yard sale... not enough room to store them here so if you have any ideas that would be great... I'm a single mom and intend to buy her x-mas gifts with the $$ I get from selling her old toys... they all are in good to great condition and I have bought them myself for her... No child support for various reasons, can't get help from the state because they say that $9.00/hour is more than enough to support 2. But yet every month I end up coming up short with the bills. I don't have anything more than is necessary - just rent, daycare, electric, phone, car insurance and gas, food, pull-ups (my dd is 2 1/2). I don't own a cell phone or even buy anything new for myself, the only luxury I allow myself is dial up internet. So why is it that at the end of the month that I'm constantly overdrawn and don't have enough money to pay for gas or groceries or one of my utility bills? Why is it that the state won't take into consideration that people actually have to pay taxes out of their checks (to support the ones that sit on their butts)? And why is it that they consider a car to be a luxury if I need it to get back and forth to work in? What can I legally do to make more money from home (so I don't have to shell out more money for babysitters)? Any X-mas ideas?

i have no problem watching my husband's children when he's working... sometimes 16 hour shifts even... but i think that when he returns from work HE should spend time with them. sometimes i make up excuses for places i have to go in order to MAKE HIM spend time with his children. He's angry with me today because he wants to go hunting BUT on Wednesdays his kids are here over night. am i wrong in being upset that he expects me to watch his kids all night while he is doing things for himself?

If something were to happen to me, I would want my kids to go to my parents, not their fathers. Is that something I would have to go through a lawyer to do? Like a will?

The fathers dont have any kind of custody or visitation rights right now.

No mom is perfect. Most moms feel like they are lacking in one area of motherhood.

Me, personally, I feel like I don't have enough one on one time (playing) with my oldest daughter.

What are your views on a open or closed adoption for a child who was taken by the state and parental rights are going to be terminated after 3 1/2 years.

We are thinking about possible having an open adoption with the bio parents, but are unsure because of the circumstances. Meaning, we weren't chosen by them to raise their child, the state took him/her as a baby in a bad situation that hasn't gotten any better.

Please give me some ideas on if you have been in one, are the adopted child...etc. What type of open / semi open / closed adoption and were there any problems with both sides keeping their end of the deal up. Info on how many visits you allowed, were given...anything will help. We were all up for a total open adoption until some recent events that weren't the best choices and am on the fence to do it or to totally cut all ties.

At times he is perfect. Then there are other times that he acts up. I don't know how to respond to it. What are some good suggestions? He does go "pout" like a child, but at other times, be appolizes for his actions before I do anything.

My husband has been wanting to take our three year old twin girls on a small vacation. He feels that I need some time alone being that I don't work and pregnant. He suggested going away for two days. Like leaving on Friday and coming home Sunday. But he doesn't know what he should do with them. We live in Upstate New York. Our daughters, Lizzie and Kaitlyn, have really wanted to spend time with me more than their father. Is that a normal reaction to the situation. Please help us. I will be willing to tell you more if you want. My husband said that I could go shopping, go to the spa, and just rest and be by myself. Thank you!! My husband has been really supportive and wants to help.
