I am just curious if any parents out there have followed through with the threat that if you're bad Santa will give you coal in your stocking? If so, why?

This evening, I took my two children to town to see the Christmas light switch on and all the entertainment that was going on. After an hour or so both of them (3 and 5) said they needed the toilet. The public ones were all closed and the pubs wouldn't let me use theirs due to licensing laws with children, so I went to a nearby cafe. They said I couldn't use them as they were for paying customers only. I pleaded with them explaining how desperate they were but they said no and were really rude. My 3 year old them wet herself as she had been holding it for about 20 minutes so I blew my top at them. Left and had to take my 5 year old down a dark stinking alley to do hers. Then had to take them home as 3 year old in a complete state. How can somewhere refuse a child the toilet to the point she wets herself? I'm madder than mad and feel I should complain to the cafe and the council for not having public toilets open when there were thousands of people out. What do you reckon, justified?

Why don't they try to relate on a mature level instead of pretending like you have every reason to be happy?

Hi, i've been seeing my boyfriend for a year and he's really good with my daughter and i we always spend time as a family. My daughters father is in and out of her life and has been keeping her ocassionaly when i have things to do. She will stay with him but she will cry to go home. He wonders why shes so anti-social with him, duh its because she doesnt know him well. Anyway its the opposite with my boyfriend. They love eachother and she calls him uncle-daddy. He doesnt seem to mind. I've noticed that yesterday i took her to see her dad and she was very cold with him, she didnt want to stay, but she was so happy when i took her over my boyfriends house. He doesnt know i have a boyfriend and I dont get into his personal business because I dont care.If he knew his kid was calling another guy dad he would get so mad but why would he care when he's not doing sh!t for her? Am I a bad mother?I dont care too much for her father but he is starting to get on my nerves now.

How come whenever someone asks a question about their child concerning health or problems 99% of the answers are "take them to the ER right away!" I mean, I've seen parents saying "my baby is drooling alot..is it teething?" and people answer "take them to the ER!" Do the parents on here really call their doctors and rush their kids to the hospital that often?

How many parents here think it is better to teach your child to fit into society then to "do his own thing?"

I am a mother of two daughters with another child on the way and I personally just cannot wrap my brain around the concept of fitting in to be happy. i think you can be much happier by staying true to yourself, even if that means being radically different. What are some opinions on that?

I started this family blog and for some reason, my family/friends don't comment much on it. Does it seem like I'm bragging, rather than just keeping them updated on our lives?

Here's the link...let me know what you think:

A friend of mine approached me yesterday with a concern she had about her son. He has been playing with two little girls who make him take his clothes off. He is 2 and they are 3 &4. Apparently, the little girls have "naked time" at home with their parents!!! So, they see NO problem with this!!! My friend is disgusted, and so am I because my daughter also plays with these girls sometimes as well. I personally haven't had this problem with my girl, but I am concerned it may happen. We are wondering if we should not allow our kids to play with them. And how do we approach the parents of these girls? Should we consider contacting child protection about the "naked time" or leave it be? We think it's unhealthy and just wrong? What do you think? It just seems disgusting to me!! I understand kids are curious & explore, but it seems over the line!!

My daughter walked into my bedroom today after I got off work. I am a nurse and had to work late last night. She was talking to me on the bed, and I needed to change clothes but she would not leave. I rarely wear underwear and my daughter did not know that, and I was wearing my scrubs. I needed to change so I just stripped out of my scrubs, and changed into some jeans and a t-shirt. I thought I guess she is old enough to know now. Well she found out. She said "Mom, you are not wearing underwear". I told her, "I never do. It is more comfortable without them for me." It was a little embarrassing to say the least because it was also the first time she had seen me naked. When she was very young, I could walk around the house naked and did not have to be so cautious. Now it is just us girls around the house. She said that she might try going without underwear, too. I told her that it is her decision, and that she could try it. Am I wrong for letting this happen and being more open?

my husband thinks that getting kicked in the balls by a girl is an experience most boys go though, and its just a learning experience. i don't know if i agree, but think our son is a bit too young psycologically to handle that sort of thing anyway. so my question is, at what age/ grade do you think its fair game for a boy to get kicked in the balls for harassing behavior?

also, at what age/ grade do you think the average boy gets kicked in the balls by a girl for the first time?

My 8 month old, yes an 8 month old was crying because she was overwhelmed by all of the people yesterday at thanksgiving and she was tired. My brother in law was telling her whinning is for wimps!!! I couldn't believe it, they don't have children, but they talk down to my 2 yr old who is very smart for his age and my 8 MONTH OLD!! I couldn't believe it! They are very rude, and My sister in law always looks to my brother in law for approval. Like when someone makes a funny comment or just a normal one, she looks at him and gives him this look like she is better than all of us. I talked to my mother in law and told her of this dilemmia in the past, and she told me if he does it more than talk to him about it, because I might hurt his feelings...HURT HIS FEELINGS? WHAT ABOUT OUR FEELINGS AND OUR CHILDRENS FEELINGS! My two yr old called my brother in law Uncle Matt instead of Uncle Eric and he said things likes you are such a mama's boy, a baby and my son started to cry. What to do?

I'm Spanish and Italian and my husband is Native american. My son in his lower region has very dark skin. I was babysitting one day and I changed a boy's diaper and his lower region was very white?! My son doesn't look like he has a tan, but very brown down there, is it something I should be worried about, my husband has it too?

i don't know if it just where i live, but every paper shop you goto there are a group of kids hanging around outside intimidating all the local people, it doesn't bother me because i am young myself but this is why i cannot understand it, it used to be called loitering and was not allowed,
there are even paper shops that have regualr security guards on the shop floor to stop these mischeve seekers which for a small paper shop must be quite expensive, bring back proper punishment for schools and smacking for parents i've been saying it since i was at school, i was smacked and it taught me right and wrong child abuse will always happen even with a ban on smacking so why ruin everyones chances of raising a decent child. your views pls
