I want to spend more time with my baby but every single time I do my son, who is 3, comes over and start hugging her and kissing her and smothering her. I feel guilty about not spending time with her. I feel like she is always just in her bassinet or in the swing. I'm afraid of him hurting her and I thought he would have gotten used to her by now but he just doesn't get enough of her. I understand he loves her, but he is rough sometimes and makes her screech from getting hurt. When will he adjust, it's been 2 months!

I was looking at a story on line about a little girl who was a special needs child. The parents were saying that they hate to even take there daughter out in public because ADULTS snicker and stare when they see there daughter having one of her public outburst. Don't adults realize that not everyone is the same and that some people have disabilities??

I am a slightly disabled female single parent, who split from her partner recently. My son is 5 years old. I say that I am slightly disabled in that I am not disabled enough to get registered as a disabled person !!

Anyway, because of this, I have problems doing general DIY around the house, even simple things like changing a light bulb, changing a plug, screwing/unscrewing screws etc.

Can you recommend how I can over come this? Would it be a good idea to employ a general 'handyman' who could do these things for me. If so, are they expensive to employ?

I live in The Midlands, England

Thank you.

Due to problems implementing my system and making it work, how about Military service, run by an organisation similar to the army (ex-servicemen) make the 16yr old do six months to a year? or longer depending on how long it takes to sort them out.

And they would not be allowed to send them to war before anyone bleats on about the little darlings.

How about prison for persistantly bad parents?

Should either boys or girls have a reversable sterilisation at birth? And then when they are old enough and can prove that they are capable of rearing a child, they be granted a license to have their operation reversed?

This would solve 90% of societies problems within a generation, as people would have to behave if they want to spawn a child, and children would be brought up better instead of dragged up?

ps. im not a nazi i promise

Why is it that so many people are afraid to let their kids use the internet. They always worry about oh well they are going 2 get a stalker.. NEWS FLASH go to wal mart and you can get a stalker. What about pornography--- VERY easily blocked if as a parent you know what you are doing (takes a few clicks on an admin profile) Oh well what about bullying and graphic launguage. Parents I hate to tell you this but me just coming out of highschool you should be worried about THOSE halls not the internet. I found out some things in 7th/8th grade that I should NOT have known about till i was 16-18 if you really want to BUBBLE your kids then put them in homeschool because thats the only place they wont get the filth that infests america's schools. (private or public) MYSPACE--- really parents its NOT a bad site it helps kids get together with their friends and with me being a college student helps me to keep in contact with friends that go to other colleges. this is not an EVIL site.

i broke up with him when i was 6mths preg.(found out some really bad things about him...long story) Anyway, the baby is now 3.5 mths old and the sperm donor just called asking to see him. I asked if he had any intention of contributing money for the baby and he said no. I feel that financial responsibility is a major part of being a parent and why should i bear all the monetary burden and he sits back and does nothing. i think my son would be better off without having this dead beat in his life. By the way, my son is his 6th child and he does not pay for the other ones either. opinions....

How do I make my son have optimal happiness when he is in a blended family? I don’t get along with his dads side of the family at all and because of that, we have no contact unless it’s to do with my son. I just wonder what the best thing to do for this s? I support my son’s relationship with his family and let him have access and don’t say bad things but I feel like he may feel unsettled like he live in two worlds. He is five years old. Any one have this and how do you deal with it? His family lives in different state then us too.
i am not with his father, should have mentioned that. and i dont get along with him. all this is so hard.

I sometimes wonder if men are just, frankly, for the most part, more selfish when it comes to raising children than women. Even fathers that are considered good dads usually don't bear the brunt of the burden of raising kids...and most don't make a conscious effort to do so. I feel like most men let their wives do 90 percent of the work with kids while they go off to work in the office. etc. and then come home think it's okay to spend like 30 minutes with their children. Men may often be the monetary providers, but emotionally they are often lazy and don't proactively try to be an equal partner in raising the kids. Is this because men are just generally more selfish than women and only give as much as they need to? Does anyone else notice this?

And sees everything through a mirror of money. It's not my kid, but I spend enough time with him, his parents are my close frineds and I'm like his older sister. I want to help until it's not too late! He does not respect people just because they are kind to him. Usual manner of speaking "guess how much my new tv cost", "know how much money I saved?" etc. I love him much but sometimes feel hurt by his remarks "your pullover is old-fashioned and worn-out"... I know his parents are a bit the same and it's their influence but I can't change adults! How should I react?
