A super nanny is one who can help kids and parents come to terms with their differences and live in harmony. WE definitely need them in sitautions where family life has broken down, and a framework of rules needs to be reestablished.

Ok, there's some good descriptions of supernannies here already.
Do we need them?
Well, I think its a good idea that parents have somewhere to turn to if they are having problems with their kids, in the form of advice and support groups etc - but this idea of the 'super nannies' is really scary - Blair is introducing this idea just now by making it sound like he's trying to help - but I would bet my bottom dollar that in a couple of years time, the government will be able to impose compulsory orders on parents forcing them to go to parenting classes, and probably even fines and imprisonment if they don't do as they are told. This is yet another case of the government interfering in family life. Yes, there are times when social intervention is needed, but this kind of legislation just takes away peoples human rights and causes far more problems than it can ever solve.

No one needs a Super nanny, what kids need is a good parent and one who loves and cares for them...Super nanny's (who think they are God) are no replacement, half of them don't even have kid's of their own so have no right to judge and give opinions on how your child should be brought up...

Someone who is trained to deal with problematic kids. Qualifications include vast experience with children who have an array of behavioural problems and their families. They have methods to tackle issues, support parents and attempt to sort out the underlying problems that are causing unruly and uncontrollable behaviour. I think we do need them. Parents do sometimes get it wrong, for a multitude of reasons that shouldn't mean allotting blame. 'Super nannies' could be an effective way of reducing delinquency and crime rates. If there was no call for such help why are programmes such as 'Supernanny', 'House of Tiny Tearaways' and 'Teen Angels' so popular? If the parents need help, this way they can access it and in the process hopefully change their lives and futures for the better. I can't see that there would be any harm in trying such an approach, if it doesn't work, there's nothing lost but if it does, there is everything to gain.

"Super Nanny" is a television program based on teaching parents basic parenting skills. The reason we need them is that too many parents today lack basic parenting skills and their kids are running wild.

the english super nanny is an unqualified non mother!!! read into that what you will. she does however give some quite sensible advice, but judging by the shows most civilised people could go into the families homes they show and come up with the problem and the solution
