You should be the one that is approached by the child. When a child ask questions about sex then you give direct answers that the child can understand. I used planting a seed in the garden in comparison to sex for my little girl, this was easier for her to understand. She is now a married woman and thanks me for this example for her at that time. As she got older and ask more I gave her more details, age appropriate. Good luck. Keep it simple but direct and do not use little nicknames for body parts.

Just be matter-of-fact. Parents often give a lot more information that the kid really wanted to know.

The old joke, where the kid asks, "What is sex" and mommy answers with a lengthy explanation is a classic example; after the explanation, the kid comes back with, "Ok mama, I guess that's interesting - but what do I put here on the card where it says 'sex'?" says it all

Be very matter of fact about it and use the proper words for anatomy. I used to work with an RN whose children knew the facts of life from early on. Her son's kindergarten teacher called her to tell her what her son told the class about two bugs doing the deed. The teacher said something about the bugs being friends and the child corrected her by telling the class the bugs were copulating.

Don't do it till there old enough, but of course you should do it before they hear the wrong thing out on the playground at school, so be gentle but open, make sure they know that they're free to ask questions

You mean the sex talk right? not the actual action of having sex with a child... i hope.

You wait for them to ask you about it. Or, if your child is nearly 4-5 grade you sit them down and let them know that now that theyre this age they need to know about how life works. Otherwise they will learn sex ed in school and thats just creepy. Finding out from your parents it better.
