I wish someone could explain to me why my son who is turning 7 has to go in a booster seat and my daughter that is 8 and actually smaller than him doesn't have to be in one. Our state is 4'9, 80 pounds or through 7 years. Both of my kids have a booster seat and use them no matter what but here is my son 4'5 and 64 pounds and my daughter is 4'1 and 45 pounds but the law says he has to be in one and she doesn't. Does anyone else understand this does our government think that an 8 year old is less valuable than a 7 year old or what. And why do some parents throw a fit over making sure their child is safe and in a booster seat I mean if they came out with a seat that they said would make my 14 year old safer she would be in one as well.

Specifically for all the parents that beleive in "Child centered parenting". When do you take the time out for you? Do you eat when you are hungry? Do you drink when you are thirsty? Do you pee and poo when you have to go? Do you just suffer through these basic biological necessities and devote 100% of your waking hours to your offspring?

I'm not trying to sound smart this time. See, this has been the purpose of my 3 previous questions today. To try and understand your method of thinking so that I can be more educated. I personally have found it dangerous, and next to impossible as well to drink a hot cup of coffee while holding a baby. Same principle with hot food.

I personally give you women 2 thumbs up if you truly devote 100% of your wake hours to your baby/kids, and are still of sound mind and body while doing so. I'll proudly accept the title of being a lesser mother than you based on this virtue because I need some me time daily, and I will take it as needed.

Thanks.

We need clarification about the new law of booster seats.
Does our son need to be 135cm tall and over 12 years or does he need to be EITHER 135cm OR over 12.

He is at the moment over 135cm tall but only 11 years; does that make him void of a booster seat?

Thanks for your replies.

I have a boy who is 2 1/2 and a daughter who is 1 1/2 and i am having trouble potty training them. I bought a little potty I have tried to sit them down on it for them to go but they refuse, I have tried to leave them with just underwear to feel the difference between dry and wet and I have tried to reward them for going but nothing has worked. Does anyone have any advise for me??

My husband is 25 and wants to be a father by the time he is 30.

In fact, he wants to have two children before he is 30 and no more children after that.

His friend is 44 with two small children and said that this is so rare now a days.

He thinks most men have children after 30.

My husband and I are the same age, and I agree with my husband!

I want to be done before I am 30 too!

Is it rare to have children in your 20's and be done having kids at 30 when you are a man?

I have two kids, ages 11 and 9, and am hiring a sitter for a school night, probably starting at about 5:30. Sitter won't have to cook, my guys'll be in bed by 8:00 and we should be back by 11:00-12:00. Any recommendations for an hourly rate? Should I pay a flat fee for the evening? Obviously, we don't get out often -- lol.

This is for the people bashing mothers who dont breast feed, have you people ever thought maybe some women cant? I was told by my doctor not to breast feed my son because my milk was contaminted from problems I had in my pregnancy, what was I suppose to do give him milk that could poisin him? People need to mind there business and let us parent our children the way we do, there our children and not yours!!!!!!

Come to you home and expect you to follow suit? I asked a series of questions up here to try and get a balanced view of the child-centered way of parenting.

I have a friend who thinks a baby's every whimper must be ran to. I have fully childproofed my home, and I find it senseless to run behind her every sound when she is right in the same room with me. Especially so if I am doing my homework or folding laundry or cooking dinner, or helping my older child with schoolwork.

She picks my baby up when I tell her not to. My daughter rubs her eyes and burrows into my chest when she's tired and wants to sleep. She whines when I lay her down for about 2-3 minutes or less then she's out like a light. My friend thinks my 9 month old needs to be held into sleep. However, my baby will not sleep that way. She'll just get restless and agitated.

What gives her the right to try and dictate what I do with my kids? Then try and guilt me becasue I MAKE time for myself and keeping house?

She has only had one comment made to her once at nursery before the school holidays but I have noticed her being observed by other adults. I don't want to put her through torture but I don't want her picked on at school and feeling very self concious about them. I think she is the cutest thing going and so does her Daddy but we are biased! Has anyone any experience of this and how did it go.

dont just have to be stuck in the house all day (like te last 2 years) I have said I will get a job to pay for the suv, but he said he would and then when we went looking for one he bitched about how he had to pay for it, "Its my money, I work" was what he said basically. I am a stay home mom and Iam bored to death of staying home all day, I want to do things that dont involve staying inside. He makes around a hundred grand yearly as well. We arent in debt either. I dont think this is fair as he has a new truck and I have to take the bus with a kid and tons of people, a vehicle take 10 minutes to get somewhere...a bus, 30 to 50 minutes. I have decided to take matters into my own hands and cut him off until I see a vehicle that runs in the driveway that isnt his. Am I being fair? Dont forget this has been almost 2 years now, he always promises but never delivers.

from doing something but he will listen to me when I say "want a cookie, toy etc" Like if I say do not touch the dvd player he ignores me, or if I say dont touch that he touches it. I dont think his hearing is screwed up, as he listens to other things that benefit him. I am getting really fed up with this, some days I want to beat him (no I never really will) because its so frustrating. My husband works all day or out of town sometimes, so for the most part I am the primary caregiver, even when he is home. What todo?

My baby wants to be held all the time. Older women tell me to let my 4 wk old cry when there is nothing apparently wrong with him. Younger women say he's too young. Who is right? How long should he "cry it out"? And if I have tried EVERYTHING, what am I to do, I dont want him spoiled. He has to go to daycare in 2 weeks, how will they handle a baby who cries cause he wants to be picked up all the time?

Okay this situation is very complicated...and i hope all of you can read this and not judge me and only try to help....Okay ive been in a relashionship for the past 5 years....We are a blended family and things are wonderful. I met the man im with when i was 2 months pregnant with another mans child. The bio father never knew i was pregnant. I never talked to him after that. He has since moved out of state. The man i am with has been my sons father from the time he was born. He is all he knows. Would it be in the best interests of my child to contact his bio father and let him know or just keep things peaceful and the way that they are and the way he's always known. The man im with now doesnt want me to contact him at all. But our other children are older and know , so someday this child will know the truth...what should we do? hes 3 years old now just about 4. I feel i need to contact him for the sake of my son, but my partner says no way....

A father raped his real daughter aged 15. While he was doing sexual intercourse with his daughter, his son had arrived and when he saw his father absolutely naked and doing intercouse with his sister, he became very furious and stabbed his father. One should be ashamed of it.

I have a fourteen month old daughter. It seems the past few weeks she has been ignoring everything I say and do to her. When she is bad, my family doctor suggested a light tap on the hand, enough for her to know she was wrong. That worked for a great while, but not recently. She does not listen to "No", a tap on the hand. I don't want to raise my voice or spank. I wonder if she is old enough to understand the meaning of time out. I know she has more teeth coming in, but with her past twelve teeth it did not result in her being bad. Any suggestions how to handle this?

I have been with my bf for almost 3 years and at first his children excepted me with open arms even went as far as calling me their step mom. About a year ago their mother moved down to be closer to her children and just within the past few months the children have been changing. I am no longer their step mom, I am just dads gf. Everytime the 16 year old girl goes to see her mother she comes back to treat my two small children 11 and 4 like they don't exsist and alienating them. All 3 girls have to share a room and the 16 year old makes them feel like they are not welcome when they are here. My children are not handling this very well and niether am I. I have asked my bf to talk to her but he doesn't say the right things to her to make her understand and when I do.... her mother intergets and says something different. Now what?
