We make it a point to sit down as a family to eat supper at the table. No one can be excused until everyone is finished eating. We make our daughter ask to be excused. We had a birthday party for our daughter this weekend and I noticed that 3 out of the 3 friends with kids that were there, didn't make their kid sit at the table to eat dinner with them. We have our daughter eat with us, no matter where we are. Other kids are running around, crawling under the table, while mine is eating. My daughter was always at the table with us when eating (after she was born) I'd feed her baby food while we ate. I feel that it's proper and a good thing to have children sitting at the dinner table as a family. My child definately eats all her food and isn't picky about what she's eating either. Do you have specific rules or anything for table manners or do you let your child run wild while eating or do you eat in shifts??

My son, who is only six, refuses and doesn’t go to school anymore! I am a single mom and go to work in the mornings before my children go to school., so I can be there when they get home. I just don’t know what to do. We don’t have any family living where we are at and I can’t quit my job to make sure he goes to school. I’m starting to think I should just let him, and then when he has to repeat the first grade, he is going to regret it. I just can not believe it…he is only six and already skipping school! Any advice? Thank you!

When I got pregnant I decided not to tell anything to my child's father and never talked to him again. My ex boyfriend offered me his help, during pregnacy he ask me to give my child his last name, and I did. We are now living together and he is playing dad role. He is like a dad to my son, and he offers the baby everything he can give him.
Now, my child is six months old, and I realized what terrible mistake I have done. Resently I talked to my child's biological father, and he asked why I did not tell him, Why I did not let him decided whether he wanted to be in charge of the baby or not. He wants to have contact with the baby, see him and have the child's last name change to his. He tells me that he won't take me to court if I don't want to change his last name but at least he wants the child to have just my last name.
Now I just want to change my child last name not to have his biological father's last name, but just my last name.

How can i do this? Please help me out!!

Should I rely on a strict regiment of daily spankings, you know, same time, same place, everyday, that sort of thing....OR....would it be better to catch them off guard with more sporadic and random beatings?

I have a 15yo son. He is not an angel but he is not bad by any means. I remarried 2 years ago. My husband loves my son but they really don't have a great relationship. They have had their disagreements as anybody does. My son has chores. He does the dishes every night, takes out the trash, cleans his room, feeds the animals, and cuts the grass when needed. He does have a smart "I don't care" additude most of the time. (what 15yo doesn't??) Here's the problem... The other night my son was folding clothes for me. He folded some towels and they weren't folded "right". So my husband went over and told hiom to fold it right. Of course he said it was right. My husband went off and yelled, cussed and shoved him with both hands in his chest. (My son is as tall as my husband).. I got between them and stopped any further crap from happening.. He talked to "the guys" at work and none of them think this was out of line.. What do you think??
SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE....

Is it hard being a single mother? I am 24, I don't have a partner but a friend who I have been seeing for over 2 years. I would really like a baby now... I have a full time job, have been here for 3 years so maternity leave wouldnt be a problem. Do you get help with housing from the council when you have a baby?

i was wondering b/c i want to know other's opinions about a good age to tell a child about the fact of their parent being gay or lesbian... ive been noted by a professional for the age to be between 4 -6 that way it is instilled in their mind yet no it wont be fully understand but they will grow up knowing those facts instead of trying to tell a 12 yr old that their mother is a lesbian... its easier when their young but what are you all's opinion on it?

My daughter is 11.She has a boyfriend,he is 18 and he is a very nice boy.He is a man and has his needs...he sometimes has sex with my daughter. But don't think it's raping. No,she agrees and he is very careful.Anyway he doesn't use condoms because a girl cannot get pregnant if she hasn't got menstruation. My daughter doesn't have but I'm worried if she gets pregnant(if the menstruation comes soon). Is it OK to show her condoms and explain her how to use them now? What if she gets frightened of telling her about babies and etc?I don't want to stress her with scary stories. How to tell her everything?

I'm a mother of two girls, ages 4 and 3.I work in FBI and my job involves a lot of travelling.I and other agents usually sleep in hotels in big towns where we have to work and we move after 2-3 days(or a week).I take the kids with me(I have planned all this and talked over it with the chief,so it's ok if the kids come with me.While I work, they are being looked after some agents with less work. But I think such a lot of moving is not the best for them.We spend 1/4 of the year moving like this.I'm not married and I have no relatives in our city to leave the kids with. How can I make this moving easier for them? They usually get used to one place and then we move.I think they may have problems with getting used in the future.

Do you think we have to spank and slap our children for their bad behavior?I've never done this, because I think children behave as they feel. When people feel bad, they behave bad, when people feel good, their behavior is also good. It's stupid to make somebody feel bad,so he/she would behave better. What do you think?

Ok, I'm not saying deaf people shouldn't have kids, so please don't think that. I have deaf family, so I have NOTHING against anyone with hearing problems. I'm just wondering what you think about how the kids will learn to talk? I've seen two different deaf couples with children and the kids have very limited speech ability at ages when kids should be talking up a storm.
