I have a son(age 9) and a daughter(age 12).When we meet friends and the kids are with us,we sometimes get them beer(small,of course,as all adults drink) if they don't want orange juice or something. They drink it all and there aren't any visible problems. Can beer harm them if they drink it less then once a week?

It harms people of any age! Plus you don't want to start a negative habit so early...there will be plenty of time to drink later in life...hopefully when they have grown up a bit and have a little more sense of the responsibilities and risks associated with drinking. A child can't completely grasp that. Come on now...you can't be serious.

Children metabolize alcohol must faster than adults. How do you know they are okay?

You should not give kids of any age alcohol or beer. It is harmful to their bodies.

You're lucky no has reported you to the police because this is breaking the law.

I would say giving the kids a sip to try it wouldnt be that bad. Remember they are smaller therefore less beer. And also remember they may end up becoming alcoholic becuase children under the age of 18 have a higher risk.
Just be careful

Yes it does. Just because you cannot see visible effects does not mean they are not there. Their livers will slowly but surely be poisoned and as a result your children will need a liver transplant early in life if you continue giving them beer however small the amounts.

yes, especially if they're driving. too young to drive? of course they are, and there's a reason for it. there's also a reason why the legal drinking age isn't 9 or 12. if you really feel you must give them beer, then give them something like o'doul's or sharps (non-alcoholic). they both taste horrible but most kids don't like the taste of beer anyway. if you don't tell them, they'd never know the difference.

I just wanted to inform all these people saying what you are doing is Illegal that they might want to check their local laws.

MANY states laws allow children to drink with their parents, and some even in public!

(why get the kids in a habit of drinking when they go out so soon?)

Um yeah you could go to jail for that and seriously harm your children. Why don't you try giving them something non alcoholic? Just tell them sorry you can't have what I am having until you are 21, its called being the parent, maybe you should try it.
