No, sounds like a great goal, children are wonderful, and will teach you more patience and tolerance and endurance, along with many other wonderful things, I am a single dad age 44 Blessed with 2 wonderful children, my daughter is presently 21 years old and my son is 22 years old yet he is developmentally disable, mentally he is like a 2 year old child, he is severely autistic with retardation. My children had always lived with me every other week then at their mom's home, presently my daughter live with me full time until she move near the college she is planing on attending.

No it's not rare. DH and I are 33 and have a 12 and 10 year old and we are done having kids. His one brother is 26 and has 3 year old and a 1 year old. And are done having kids
Their brother is 31 and has a 2 year old and a 3 month old (they are planning another in a couple years).
Their sister is 28 and her dh is 31 and they have a 5 and 2 year old. They may have another though.
My brother is 35 and has an 11 and 9 year old (but his wife is 45 now I think).

I had my son at age 30. He's the focus of my entire world. Although. I'm a single-father with custody, I hope my opinion helps.
It's not rare at all. What I believe the fact to be is that most men in this age-range are busier than ever becoming established in their career... or at least working at it. Therefore, they are less likely to be "out" talking about raising kids.
My father was 34 when I was born.... I was at first worried that he couldn't hang with my as I grew older... but to the day I've never beaten him at a game of one-on-one. In fact, my relationship with my father has made me more confident with my own age and raising my son.
The real answer is: Don't Rush Perfection.
The older and wiser you are... the better your going to be prepared for it. But, don't limit yourselves to just one. By your question alone I feel you are both well prepared and will both be great parents.
Suggestion: Find the older crowd and be the young pups with everyone's envy.
Take care.
Good luck.

Absolutely NOT! My sister married at 16 yrs to a 19 yrs old man. They are now married 10 years - she is preganant again for the fourth time. Her husband just turned 29 and is a proud father of a 10 yr old boy, 9 yr old girl, 1 yr old boy and the last one due in Oct will be another girl.
They are done having anymore children after this and their family is complete. The 2 older help with the 2 younger and who is better then them. Plus since he's a Marine he will retire young and they have their whole lives ahead of them to travel when the kids are in college......

No. The thing here is that usually during your late 20 to early 30s you are rising in your career phase of life. It is either best to have kids just at the start of your career so they get used to you working so much or after you have settled yourself in your career and are able to back off working some to spend time needed to raise kids.
I am 33 and had one child at 28 and 2 at 31 and now find trying to shift careers hard because of the responsibility.

um, no. What would be wrong with that? I'm 33 and done having 4 kids. My boyfriend is 28 and he is done too. (well he better be anyways. lol) It's great 'cause now we can not be old senior's still raising our kids. My oldest can babysit now and it's super cool to be able to go and work again and go out at night like adults. I think it's more rare to see a 44 year old with small children...wow, hat goes off to him. By his age I'll be long done raising my kids and "enjoying" the next chapter of my life.

Perhaps, it is rare in your circle of friends but no, it isnt rare in general. Keep in mind the pros and cons of having children early. The younger you do it, the more energy you may have to play with them during their formative years. And you will have an empty nest earlier and can enjoy "retirement". However, you may not have much time for yourselves during your 20's if you are busy raising kids. If later, you may have more financial wealth for them but might not have as much energy and/or time for them. But then, you can say you had your "fun" already during your pre-kids days. Anyway you look at it, having children is not a decision to be taken lightly. It is a tremendous amount of work and responsibility and the toughest job you will ever have ... but also the most rewarding challenge!
