I have a nine month old daughter, when I found out I was pregnant my boyfriend of three years told me that although we can't be together he will support me. I allowed him to attend the birth, he was about for a week or so, but did register his name as her father.
The problem is that we work in the same job, he has been off sick most of the year and I have only seen him once. he has paid some money through the CSA but that has dried up due to him not attending work. He had kept his family away but I contacted them and they have been terrific and very supportive, and generally love having the child to stay. I have arranged to meet him several times but he never turns up - think he loses his bottle. I accept that he is not going to be a father to the child, but my main issue is that I have just discovered he has literally moved across the road from me with his girlfriend. So whats the best way to react when I see him?

My exfiance and I planned this child he's 34 and his first. After basking in the glory of telling everyone he was going to be a Dad, he told me he wants me to have an abortion and the wedding is off. He has now put his house on the market and given up his well paid job to work abroad so I get no money. His dad has offered me support and says he is coward. I don't intend to let him see the child as Im sure it will be just to critise me, also he can pay the courts to show his commitment to being a father. I also feel he may say it's not his, which obviously it is, just to delay any responsiblities. What should I do? This has caused so much stressed I havent spoken to him for a month and im becoming ill. It is too late for an abortion and I want to keep this child as it will be loved, even though I feel for it having a dead beat Dad.

I struggle with assisting but feel I am being railroaded because of this reality. I often overindulged as youngster because dad was a crappy one and I felt sad over divorce and child's pain.

Now I get the guilt trip if I do not give in. I see this getting to point of child having to leave to "get" that life is hard. but where to go? any ideas

My 21/2 yr.daughter and I went to WAL-MART this morning. There was an older, heavy set woman in the isle with us, and she looked alot like my aunt Marsha. Well, she farted kinda loud, and I turned away trying to pretend I didn't hear her, but my daughter very loudly said "Moma! Marsha tooted!" I tried to keep from cracking up, but she just kept repeating it. I know the woman heard, cause I could see her giggling. I just turned my basket around and hightailed it out of there.

10 y.o. is coughing for hrs and feeling body aches. You have medicine that tastes OK...kinda like unsweetened OJ and have no $$ to get anything of the new candy-flavored medicines. Still you know this works. She defiantly says she won't take it. Do you swat her rear/hand and lay down the law since this is a health issue or let the child decide? To answerers: If you think step moms have no rights to basic respect from a step kid and should tolerate being walked over and emotionally abused don't bother answering this one. I don't need your input/guilt trips.

I saw this comment posted by an Athiest. This was an additional comment that this woman posted after she voted for her best answer. I was in shock that someone could devalue human life so much that they would make this refference to abortion.

"Abortion is right by me if I get prego again i'm going to the "Chop Shop" for a third time :-) "

This is very sad to me to see this comment. This person was also really insulting Christians, saying how stupid we are.

I think it is sad that people believe this way, especially parents.

Comments?

We just moved from another country, 1/2 a day before the start of school. My 6 year old who is usually a social butterfly but is now having great difficulty adjusting and making friends. I thought of throwing a Halloween party for him and inviting his whole class. Most people I know tell me not to bother because it is quite likely that nobody will come, primarily because they don't know him and perhaps they just don't like him. I thought it was a great idea. Any suggestions?

My sister is having this issue with her almost 9 year old. He won't wipe his butt after having a bowel movement. He thinks it's really gross, she's gotten the Kandoo wet wipes to help him get over the cleanliness of it. But he's still petrified to wipe is butt. Any suggestions?

With my first daughter I took her off her bottle at 1 1/2 years and that was easy because she liked her sippy cup. My youngest is ten months and she is showing signs of being very attached to her bottles. She even wakes up in the middle of the night for a bottle still. She likes her sippy cup but prefers a bottle. So, in other parents experience when is a good age to take bottles away? When did you do it? How hard is it with a baby who is attached to the bottle like a pacifier?

My oldest daughter who is three years old has gotten into a bad habbit of being in the fridge all the time. She has started to feel the need to eat something all the time. I am constantly taking food from her and putting it back. I wasn't paying attention yesterday and she ate four yogurts. Would it be okay to lock up the fridge so I can control her eating? She is the perfect size for her age and it would break my heart if she learned to overeat so early and become overweight. I know how hard it is on kids being overweight, I was an overweight kid. I haven't brought it to her attention that if she eats too much she'll get big. I was hoping I could just stop the habbit by not allowing her access to the fridge. Is this okay or is there a better way?

I am a mother to a 3 year old and 22month old. On Oct 2 I will start a FT job that is M-F from 8A-5P. Now I have worked in the past but since having my kids it has been mainly PT or longer shift so I have always had like 2-5 days off.

I am exited about this job but need advice on how other working moms manage their time with family, household duties, work, and school. Oh yeah I will be taking a Chemistry class, also. My BF is here and helps but he works longer days than me.

So any advice will be helpful. Thanks

Constantly tell their kids "if you don't stop I'm going to ....spank.... ground.... time out....." And they never do. They just keep telling them over and over they are going to punish them, but they just let them continue doing what they're not suppose to be doing.

Ok, a friend of mine is 16. She's dating this guy and they have been going out for about a month. She likes him a lot and he feels the same way. She asked me what I think of him and I told ehr I think he's a nice guy. He treats her really good. Sounds perfect right? Well, there's a problem that she asked me to help her with and to be honest I have no clue! He's 23. That's a 7 year difference. Now, where she lives it's legal because you only have to be 16 to consent to anything. Is that too much of an age difference??? And if so why is it for her but I know people that are 12 years apart (adults) and together??? I put this in parenting because I want parents advice on it and I'm more likely to get that in parenting.

Say if you had a young teen 13-15 year old daughter or son, they told you they're not a virgin, they drink and smoke. What would be your reaction?
