The government should pay to have their tubes tied so that they can not breed and infect the conuntry with more welfare sucking babies who are going to grow up to be welfare sucking criminal adults.

I don't think your wording your question right. I know here in Canada there is a "Max Allowance" so it does not matter how many children you have after you reach a certain limit welfare says that's it that's all. But for the government cheques that are sent out such as child tax and gst and etc - i think people do abuse the system and have more children to increase those funds. Personally i have four children and a good husband with a good job to support our family and i am still thankful for those little "extra's" the government does give out. For many people it is invaluable the little bit of help they give to help out with the daycare costs and price increases on baby needs. However for those abusing the system - it does not go totally unnoticed. As those that abuse the system for the money and unfortunately don't really care for the children sooner or later get there dues as the public notices these poor children and makes a phone call to get them help. So i feel that any one who abuses the system will in due time - pay for it. Unfortauntely the children will pay first!

Actually...Now days in 2006 the gov. has fixed it so that people can't have babies just for a check. Back in the day everytime a woman had a baby, their check would get bigger (by a hundred or so) So if a woman started on the county with 1 child she would get between 4 or 5 hundred a month. Then she would get pregnant again and she would get around 6 hundred and so forth(my amt's could be slightly off) Neway now if your on the county and you have 1 child...you are gonna get about 5 hundred and something dollars a month. Then you get pregnant and have 2 more kids you are still gonna get 5 hundred a something...not anymore than that. I think that is good because some people do abuse the system by having more kids. Now they can't do that anymore.

Well, at least they changed the law that states after 2 kids they don't get any more money added to their checks. They seriously need to revamp the welfare system. There are WAY too many deadbeats on it and it makes the ones that really need it look bad. A friend of mine is disabled and gets welfare, and people look down on her because of the able-bodied women that just refuse to work.

i use to live in long beach, ca...(and the ghetto side) and i see it everytime. i see parents dressed in expensive designer jeans and shoes and their kids are in rags. i even know a person that outright said, "why work when i can get welfare?"
and what do i think? i'm outright digusted with it. i use to work for the probation center of orange county, ca and i see paperworks for welfare fraud all the time.
after seeing all this with my own eyes, i vowed that i will never get the help of welfare unless i actually need it. and really, i don't. i probably need it more than the people who actually have welfare...but i believe that if i cannot make a living while having a child...then i shouldn't have a child in the first place.

I understand the need for welfare, and I don't mind paying into it. I don't like the people who stay on welfare and do nothing else to improve their lives. If you're on welfare, go to school and learn a trade, get a career, so you can get a job to support yourself and your offspring. If you're a recently divorced single mom and need some extra help, then by all means you deserve welfare until you can get on your feet. That's what welfare was intended for in my opinion.

hey hun...if they can't wrok for some reason or other then fine...help em' out but if their abuseing the system then it really makes me mad....i have a little girl and some times me and my husband have to tell her no on some clothes or dolls that she would like to have cause we simply don't have the money...the reason we work our butts off trying to survive only to have our checks garneshed to death to take care of people like that...and it only gets worse with the relization that welfare wont be there for us when we need it on down the road because you have some people that seem to think they are to good to work and they get money handed to em'...here is a good example of ssi....i know a woman that has to get a lawyer and fight to get her ssi and she has worked all her life....i also know other people that haven't worked a day in their lives and have the check ( even back pay!) literally handed to them in a matter of months!...it just goes to show how messed up the system is and why it wont be around when our kids need it...love daisy

Being a mom and realizing how demanding the job is I find it hard to believe that a welfare check would be high enough to be the sole reason for having a child.

i don't have a problem with people who need it to get it. it is those who take advantage of it that make me mad. I say if you are healthy and of age then get a job. the government shouldn't be paying parents between 20-40 to stay home with kids when they could be working. no!!!!!!! no reason for it.like in anything else there is abuse of the system.I think regular check up of welfare families would find alot of families who don't really need it.

I've never heard of such a thing, personally. The welfare system seems to be rather difficult and does not seem to pay out very much from what I understand about it. I couldn't imagine someone having children for this purpose. If it truly exists, that is a true shame. Shame on the "parents".
