What always works with my 7 month old is carrots or sweet potatoes, some juice, and some tummy massage! She usually goes after a bottle. With my daughter, sometimes just rubbing her belly will get things going in there!

You should always consult with a pediatrician when it comes to a baby's health. The doctor may prescribe some medication such as a suppositiry, but only use if the doctor reccomends it.
You may also try natural remedies such as watered down apple juice. I
In the Hispanic culture, we use "te de manzanilla" or chamomile tea. DO NOT USE prepared tea from tea bags. I am not sure if you can find fresh chamomile sprigs in your grocery store, but if you can buy some and put a few sprigs in a pot and boil with a couple of cups of water. You will know that the tea is ready when the color is a yellow tint.
Once the tea is cool enough for your baby to drink, serve a few ounces in his cup/bottle. You can serve as is or sweeten a little bit. This tea will surely help with his constipation.

I had this problem with my daughter for the longest time. I tried everything from apple and prune juice to laxatives for babies and they all were temporary solutions to a long standing problem. Check with your doctor about the amount but it is safe to add a fiber mixture into their drinks... milk or juice. They have a new one on the market that you can mix with anything and it has no taste, doesn't clump up and totally dissolves. They sell it at Wal Mart it is called Fiber Sure. You can give it to them everyday. I only needed it until she ate enough solid food to get a high amount of fiber in her diet but you can keep your child on it for as long as you like. I am pregnant now and take it myself. Good Luck.

Why are you going through the trouble of alternating 'greens and yellows'? Just feed the poor child and stop with the color cordinating. Give him some juices such as apple or grape juice, watered down cranberry or cherry juice. Make sure he gets enough fiber in his diet, feed him cream of wheat. If all else fails take him to the doctor. He shouldn't be getting constipation all of the time.

feed him a variety of fruits and veggies. but, sometimes constipation is just gonna happen. my daughter had to drink/ eat prunes as young as 2 months old to aid in her constipation. formula isnt very kind to baby bowels! we tried the "rectal massages" and exercises, baby foods and juices, but gerber prunes/ prune juice was the winning option for her.

poor little thing...I hope he feels better soon. Fruit juice can help get things going again, and maybe he is lactose intolerant. If he drinks milk or eats cheese, this can cause constipation, the cheese especially, even if he is not lactose intolerant. He probably has a sensitive system, but, of course, the pediatrician will know best. Good luck, I know its frusterating.

My son had consipation. My doctor told me to give him some baby prunes and some Pear juice (I got Gerber). I also gave him a little bit of water throughout the day. It worked wonders. Good Luck! : )

When my son was 8 months old same thing happened, the Dr. gave me pills to put up his butt. That worked but not in the way it was meant. Having a pill push up the butt caused the baby to push back (Least he would'nt be Gay, not that there is anything wrong with that ;). It almost seemed like the instinct to push back kicked in. We never had a problem after that.

My grandmother who is a very wise woman, and raised five children of her own told me to put 1 to 2 tbsp of dark karo in milk or juice or babyfood. It sounds very funny, but always works. Another natural way is straight apple juice not watered down. It is best to try these before resorting to suppositories. They will get to where they have to use them all the time. Hope i helped.
