A mobile for his crib that plays music. Light up toys that vibrate and play music. Rattles for you to shake for him. There are toys you can hang on his car seat. Also I love the play mats that have the dangling toys overhead for him to look at. Oh yes and a vibrating bouncing chair or a electronic swing. Those are a Mom's lifesaver.

Make sure you are taking care of yourself. This is harder than your whole pregnancy. You are physically drained, Make sure you are sleeping, eating and taking vitamins. It is very easy to focus on baby and forget about taking care of yourself. God Bless.

Soft animals, rattles are great! My son loved his rattles! Big building blocks, big enough he can't actually put them in his mouth all the way. Anything that is one piece, not toxic and no small parts or sharp sides.

To tell the truth, the one thing my son had the most fun with when he was that age was a coffee filter, yes, a coffee filter. One of the big commercial sized ones work best, they can wad them up and if they get wet, they dont decentigrate (sp?) and they don't tear that easily, but you have to know when to get him a new one.

Cuddly little soft toy aninals. One of those fisher price crib toys that looks like an aquarium. Kids at this age are still learning to focus and follow things with their eyes. They exploring their environment with their hands so they need lots of toys with different textures. Nothing too hard tho. Nothing too loud. Nothing with small parts.

You can actually start reading to your little one , books like Pat the Bunny where babies can pat the pictures and feel the softness of different things. Little kids at this age don't need expensive toys everything is going to get gnawed on anyway.

They make really cute crib toy that attach to the crib. Stuffed toys are good but be sure the eyes and parts can't be pulled off for the baby to choke on. You want larger sized, colorful toys.

He doesn't need any toys at that age, he needs his parents.
We made the same error and started to buy toys way too early, but seriously, it's just a waste... But I know that you will feel better if you buy him some (even if he couldn't care less), so go ahead :)

dont bother yet, a clean plastic tupperware tub with some rice in or dried peas make excellent rattles, save your money, you will need it for the computer games and consoles and electronic rubbish that kids prefer, when he is old enough buy him toys that will stimulate his mind, Meccano, Lego, ect.
my children you to sit in a card board box , the large exspensive toy discarded after a few minutes, they wanted to play with the box, it became a hinding place, a robot, a space ship, childrens imagination are a revelation if you allow it to develop. regards LF

I would try stuffed animals, rattles, or one of those toys that sits on the floor and the baby lays under it and can play with the toys that are hanging down.

One month old, you don't need to worry about toys for another couple of months. Right now the crib accessories are more than enough. Your physical bonding is the most important thing right now.

small, soft, plush toys with lots of color are best right now. cloth blocks with different things on each panel so as to attract attention. squeaky or things that rattle will get his attention will get his attention for a while too.

At one month old, however, his vision isn't what it's going to become (he's not seeing very far right now) so don't crowd him with too many toys, over-stimulation isn't good.

Hold him. Read to him. Take him with you where ever you go. Take him out into the world and tell him all about it. These are the best gifts you can give him. The other stuff is all junk that clutters up your existance.

The only thing that he needs besides you, and your breastmilk, is a nice place to sleep that is colorful.
