I'm talking taking care of a kid fulltime while the parents are working. I am having a baby and was thinking of doing that a few months after the baby is born for some extra cash. What are the downfalls and how much do you charge?

My husband is out of town until Friday with a sick parent. My daughter is not taking having daddy gone very well, so I've decided she and I should work on a surprise for him over the next few days- We're going to get up early Friday and fix him his favorite supper and make a "Welcome Home Daddy" banner for the living room. Any other ideas on what we can do together to pass time?

The doctor said I shouldn't need to take her in until her fever is 105 degrees. That seems really high to me. She isn't dehydrated and my sister said all they will do is give her Tylonal and Motrin to bring down the fever and you can do the same thing at home. I still feel a little on edge about not taking her. What temp would you take your child to the doc with?

Like those ppl that only buy used clothes or balk at those that buy new and name brand. My kid has a lot of good quality clothes (pricer than mine) and things like that. I dont tell anyone I spend lots on my kid, but ppl can read, and when they see what my kid has they try to make me feel like an idiot by saying Im crazy, well Im not. We all know if they could do it, they would too!
I dont say eew, you kid has used clothes? Why cant ppl just mnd thier own business, esp about things like this???

I am a stay at home mother with 2 kids. I want to do a daycare out of my house. I have worked in a daycare for 4 years and was also a sub in the school that i did the day care in. I have the experience to do a daycare. My question is , my husband has a gun it is locked up in a case and everything like that. It in a room that is also locked in. I had him do that b/c I have two small child of my own. So I did not want them to get into it. The bullets for the gun are also locked up in something different and not any where near the guns. So they can not get to it and shot then selfs and the key to the gun case is hidden for the kids. Do you think that if I tryed to open a daycare that parents would not like the fact that I have 5 guns in the house even thur they are lock up in a room.

Now this question isn't for ALL of the stay at home mom's:
Some of you, from what I have read, like to talk a little smack about working mothers. Not everyone can have the luxary to stay at home and raise their kids, and for those of you can.. good for you. I guess what I am asking is are you saying that if mothers can't afford to stay home they shouldn't have kids? Is that really fair to the people who, for whatever reason (because there are a lot), are single parents. Or people who really want kids, but their jobs don't pay enough for one person to stop working long enough to raise a kid?
I have never once bashed a stay at home mom, but, I know there are people who do. All I've ever seen though is SAHM bashing those who HAVE to work.
Serious answers only please. I would prefer to hear from the stay at home mothers that think this way, but seeing as I can not stop anyone from answering this question.. please be nice and give real answers.

For those of you who say you worked in one, and would never put your own child in one, what are your reasons for that?

We try to put her in her crib in her room but she wakes up at least every hour crying......when she is in our bed she sleeps through the night..... she seems to have a need to feel someone next to her.

I want her to sleep well but I think the longer we allow her to sleep in with us the harder this will be on her in the long run.

any suggestions?

She is 15 (16 in Nov) All A's (honors). She does not go out. She is now crazy about a new boy and does not know how to break up with the other. I wouldnt be so bothered but we talked and she said that she was crying in school, ect. I want her to continue talking to me but i M loosing patience with the issue not to mention that she is so ugly to her little sister ( 5yrs old) and blames it on stress. She was home 10 minutes yesterday and was so bitchy that a screaming match (which I won) took place and she was made to go to bed. After everything calmed down , 5yr old asleep we went on the swing on the porch and talked. I can't make her see that maybe she doesn't need a "boyfriend". She didn't agree w/me. I am trying to be a good mother (single) but feel here lately that i do nothing right for her or so it seems

My hubby and I are having a disagreement. Yesterday my 6yo kept putting a bouncy ball (about the size of a quarter) in her mouth. After telling her to take it out twice (and having her put it back in her mouth minutes later), I had her throw it away. She threw a tantrum, and when she was done we sat and talked about WHY I had her throw it away. I explained to her about what could happen if it lodged in her throat, or worse, if her 11mo brother followed her example and put it is his mouth. My husband doesn't think it should have been tossed in the garbage. What do you think?

my son is seven weeks old and I had planned to take a year off work to be with him. But money is starting to get a little tight and my boss has already called offering me any shifts i wanted if I'd just go back. And honestly it'd be nice to get out of the house and see grown-ups a few days a week. But it seems silly to work if all the money is just going to go right back into paying for daycare where he might not even be well taken care of. What do you pay for daycare part-time? and what have some of your experiences benn with leaving your kids in daycare? (good and bad).

My five year old son whines about everything. It is driving me nuts. I have tried many different ways to stop it but nothing seems to work. Please no answers about hitting or spanking - let's all admit that when a child is whining to this extent hitting and spanking only make it worse.
