I am a stay at home mother with 2 kids. I want to do a daycare out of my house. I have worked in a daycare for 4 years and was also a sub in the school that i did the day care in. I have the experience to do a daycare. My question is , my husband has a gun it is locked up in a case and everything like that. It in a room that is also locked in. I had him do that b/c I have two small child of my own. So I did not want them to get into it. The bullets for the gun are also locked up in something different and not any where near the guns. So they can not get to it and shot then selfs and the key to the gun case is hidden for the kids. Do you think that if I tryed to open a daycare that parents would not like the fact that I have 5 guns in the house even thur they are lock up in a room.

He uses the guns to shots ground hogs so they don't kill the cows that we have and they are locked up. They are shot guns also so that are harder for a child to use. But they cn not even get in to the room that it is in

The guns do have safety locks on them also. So if the child should get it they would have a hard time getting it to work. I don't have a attic or a place to store them.

I personally wouldn't think it was a problem because truthfully they are double locked and the bullets aren't with them. I believe in having guns at home at long as they are as safe as you say.

Well if I was a parent that was considering different daycares the one with the guns would definately be my last choice. I would never let a gun into my house or let my child spend the day with someone who had one even if it was locked up. No offense, because I'm sure you are a very responsible person and I'm sure your husband is as well, it's just that even if it is locked up kids can still find a way to get into things. Have you considered keeping the guns in the garage or attic where the children wouldn't go? Anyway, that's just my opinion and I hope the daycare goes well.
No offense, but having a gun in your house and saying "Oh but they're locked up" is like saying "Oh yes we have tons of alcohol in our refrigerator but we never drink it." I'm sorry, but I would never leave my child with someone who had guns no matter how many safety locks were on it and no matter how locked up they were.

I personally would be a bit apprehensive to have my children go there if I knew there were guns, even if they were locked up. Why don't you have your husband put them in a storage unit, a friend's house, the attic, etc.? This sounds like a great opportunity for you, so talk to your husband and see what he says. Also, are there rules stating that guns are allowed on the premises if you do have the daycare center? You should check with your state rules and regulations for gun safety just to be sure. Or, why not ask your state troopers? Good luck!

Most parents probably will not like that there are guns in the place where their child will be in care. Even though they are locked away and so are the bullets its still a risk. You want to be 100% sure that your children are safe when you leave them. Im not sure that the law would alow you to open a daycare in your home where there are guns either. You would have to check on that.

how do grounhogs kill cows??
i doubt you'd get approved to open a day care with guns in the house and i doubt parents would want their kids in a home with even the remotest possibility of guns being in the house.
also, if you are going to be teaching kids and caring for them....please take some elementary level english classes. i'm not trying to be rude, but i'd be more concerned about your grammar and language use than the guns in the house.
this is only b/c i grew up around guns, myself.
take care.
also, think about the repercussions onto you and your husband IF an accident with the guns occured. basically, your lives would be over.
if you open a day care....get rid of the guns.

I do not know your state rules here you can have 4 kids without a license.
Day Care Regulations
Rules and regulations for day care centers and facilities. Number of teachers, number of children per room ... you are considering opening a child day center. ...www.openingpage.com/day_care_regulations.htm - 14k - Cached - More from this site - Save
Chapter 6 Day Care Rules
... during portions of the day such as opening and closing hours, special events, etc. ... rules is required of all applicants prior to issuance of a child care license. ...dfsweb.state.wy.us/daycare/dft6.htm - 65k - Cached - More from this site - Save
Here is a start but knowing your state is more help.:-)

I am a parent, and just reading about you thinking of opening a day care center with 5 guns in your possession scares the heck out of me and I fear for whoever child you plan to babysit... Not saying you are irresponsible... But in a worst case scenario... accidents happen. You wouldn't want that on your conscious...
