I have a step daughter who recently came to live with us.I had met her 3 times prior and me and my husband have been together for 3 years. Her mom gave her to us because she has 6 other kids and no place to live(she also uses drugs)she rarely sees her and my husband works 12 hour days everyday so i'm left to take care of her she lies about me and to me all the time and now i find that i don't wanna be around her but i have no choice. She is 8. Is it wrong for me to feel this way about a kid?

I have found that most people can not prioritze their lives and never come to grips with that One Thing that matters to them. This One Thing is the thing that all of their decisions should be based upon. Until you find that One Thing, many of us wander from relationship to relationship, heartache to heartache, birth to death. Many have found their One Thing. Have you?

Teen years, what fun times to parent right? I was just curious about your views on teenage behavior and what you are going to/doing about it. So here goes:

Curfew: Have you clearly established a curfew with your teens and have repercussions if it is not abided by? If it isn’t followed what is the punishment?

Drugs: What would you do if you found out your teen was doing illegal drugs? Do you believe the punishment for marijuana should be different then other “harder” drugs ?(cocaine, methamphetamines, ecstasy) Did you do drugs as a teen and do you believe it effects your ideas on how you deal with drugs in your household?

Drinking: Is your teen allowed to drink as long as there is parent watching or there? Would you allow other teens to drink in your house? What is the punishment for drinking, if any?

School./Grades: Do you feel your expectations are set high enough and what are they? What is the punishment for getting unacceptable grades?

Extra Curricular Activities: Do you encourage your teen to stay active in school and extra activities?

Sex: What would you do if you found out your teen was having sex? Do you feel as though you could stop him or her? Would you knowingly allow your teenager to have sex in your home? Would you treat a daughter differently then a son when dealing with sexual relationships, why?

You don’t have to answer all the questions, pick a section if you’d like. You don’t even have to have teenagers or kids, if you’d like to answer go ahead! Thanks in advance for your answers!

My son is 5 he keeps touching his face, nose and especially the top of his head, like he is smoothing his hair down. It happens mostly in social situations. He has speach problems and doesn't always understand what people are saying to him, it happens a lot then too. It must be stress related but are these tics? and should I be concerned? He has done this for about a year now on and off.

How many parents operate and tell kids 'under our roof is prefered and ok' with teen couples 4 safety?

Ie going the oposite of don't ever briang anyone over to this house for sex or making out. The complete opposite pretty much on the basis you are happy they aint the lonley nurdy one no body wants to date or be freind with.

but more so as under your own roof is far safer then going off into the woods or wherever.

As a controlled environment maybe with hidden panic button, condoms, hidden weapon say cs spray behind bed board.

Or just folks in the house with only a light bolt on the door for privacy that breaks easy...

Maybe with fake photos around the house of dad in army, winning martial arts prizes, with biker gang buddies etc.

Subtlely saying u can date my duaghter, even bone her but hurt her you are history...

Likewise sons

I'm 20 years old and I just caught my dad this last weekend. I have summer school and work, but it's hard because it constantly eats at me that I saw this. I have a 15 year old sister at home, and I don't want her to catch my dad too. She is still growing and it might be too much for her. What should I say to my dad and how should I handle this?

since Monday (father out of town working) I dont have a car (Im a sahmom) so places to go to are linited as the bus is just a nightmare and everything is an hour away on it. My husband will not buy me a car, and whenever I mention I need one he says "will see what happens" what the hell does that mean?
He has a fancy newer truck so I dont think its fair that I dont have a car, he makes over a hundred grand yearly as well.
I am with the kid way more than he is too.
I will be stuck at home until the weekend at least.
I dont have any friends (due to husbands jealousy and insecurity) so I cant even get someone over here.
BTW, kid is getting very whiny and bored after 3 days in the house.

my sons dad went back to his other babys mom 2 months into my pregnancy and she got pregnant again when she found out i was preg. He told her he didnt want to go back but then a string of horrible occurances on her end made him have no choice(kid bit by dog on face, mom abusing xanax). At first he called 3x a wk then it went down to biwkly now its been a month. Last time he called me he mentioned "us" but now he hasnt called since.. He has to have the other girl in the room when he calls but i think he sneak called this time. He never wanted to leave me, esp when he found I was preg.. But I dont know what 2 do. Our son is almost 2 m and havent heard from him in 5wks. They have no house phone so he has to use her cell.. and everytime hes happy about our son I hear her in the BG tellin him he needs to get off.. Their relationship is toxic and I want 2 help but cant. The used to beat on eachother and drink and he did meth at 1 point but quit up here.
his 3rd kids due in 2wks hes 21 im 23.
