My son used to complain of this- he is 7 now, but it has stopped for the last 9 months or so. I know a lot of people say growing pains are not real, some Dr.s even, but I think that is what it is. My son would just ache, and he was growing very fast. I remember hurting really bad when I was in 6th grade, I grew 3 inches that year! I hope that is all it is, her body stretching out really fast and just aching because of it. Try not ot worry too much until you see the Dr. Best wishes!

I have a 6 yr old daughter too. She has pain sometimes, especially after a very active day. Make sure your daughter is getting enough calcium. Get a calcium supplement if you're not sure if she's getting enough. The body only absorbs the amount of calcium needed so don't worry about giving her too much. Just go by the suggested amount. I hope you have good insurance! By the way, she will probably go through this again, only worse, between 13 and 16. Girls hit another big growth spurt then.

Growing pains are very normal. It's good you're taking her to a doctor though. It's always better to be safe than sorry. When mine had growing pains, the Peds recommended a children's aspirin before bed. It helped her relax and not feel the pain as much. Mine outgrew it quickly. Don't be worried, just get her checked out.

Good luck!!

I used to get that allll the time. I usually just took a paracetamol or asprin and went to sleep. Growing pains are normal but it might be a good idea to visit the doctor just in case.

These are growing pains and some kids unfortunately get them worse than others. I don't remeber getting them myself, other than some sore shins. Give Children's Tylenol and continue to massage. Give the Tylenol before school in the AM.

Taking her in to the doc is a great idea. Smart parent, you are.

If the doc finds nothing wrong, I'd suspect it's a bedtime issue. One of mine used to start limping when it was time to get his chores done. Fell for it the first couple of times, then turned the table. He was to injured to clean up his room, he was too injured to walk down the street for ice cream with the family.

She may just be asking for more of your time.

Sounds like growing pains...but if you think it's muscle cramps try increasing the potassium in her diet (bananas, raisins, and more).
