All it takes is a bit of research. There are groups for SAHDs to get together. There are also many men who work weird hours like firefighters who have a few days off between looooooong shifts. I know one who when he is off, that is when his wife puts in the few office hours that are required for her otherwise work at home job.
So there are many men out there at home with their kids - not just full-time SAHDs.
edited to add: Try meetups.com to find a SAHD or WAHD group near you and if there isn't one, you can start one.

There are actually resources, right here:
www.slowlane.com AND www.athomedad.com
You can also find many other chat rooms & such for stay at home dads if you just use a search engine like www.ask.com
I think that any man that has the courage to brave a baby at home by themselves is wonderful! It can be a tough job, but fathers are just as qualified as any mother is & some may even be better at it! Fathers often have a different parenting skills that teach things that mothers do not know how to (ie: sports)
I know for a fact that if my son's father was able to stay at home, he would do it in a heart beat & not regret the decision to do so. He would be *thankful* that he gets that extra time to bond with his child, rather than hate spending one on one time with him. NO parent is prepared for parenthood at first, but you LEARN if you are willing. I say to all sahd "CONGRADULATIONS! & Good Luck!"

Not crazy, just a real man. My husband stays home with our children and it works for everyone in our home. Women have been dealing with these same problems for generations. I'm finding it hard to believce that someone actually had a child with you. Tell your wife/partner to run like the wind while she still can, and grow up. LOSER!

My husband stayed home for a year and it was the greatest thing! It gave him and the kids an extra special bond and it gave me a new appreciation of the pressure involved in being the sole wage earner!!!It was great for all of us!!!

Mom's do it all the time, besides, mom's and dad's do things way different, so it is great for the kids. besides, if he works day and she works night or vise versa, it is the same thing.
