I'd say $3 for a 7 year old. I got $5 when I was eight, so... And it would also be cute if you forged a note from the Tooth Fairy telling him great job or whatever.

5$ There really isn't that much that even a kid can buy with only one buck. If you only give them $1 then when you take them to the store to spend their money, they are going to find something that costs more than that and you'll end up paying the rest of the amount anyway. At least if you give them the $5 then whatever they buy they can pay the entire amount themselves and hopefully get some change back too. This will do more in the long run about teaching them about money than if you pay the balance of something that costs more.

I only got a quarter for every tooth. However the less teeth I had left the more I got. It eventually went to fifty cents and finally when I lost my back molars a $1 each.
I would think anything from 50-$1

Our Fairy pretty much leaves whatever she has on hand. At least a dollar, sometimes 2 dollars. She tends to leave more if it was a traumatic loss (a lot of blood, etc.).

I got $1 twenty years ago! Inflation has increased the cost per tooth to $2-$5 depending on who you talk to. hahaha

Seriously, it's up to you to decide, based principally on your financial situation. If he gets significantly more, or less, than his buds, he won't feel right.
