I have gone away for a few nights and I usually pay my sitter 7$ per hour that she is actively taking care of the children. (i.e. they are awake) I then pay her an overnight fee that we agree upon in advance. So, roughly 12 hours at 7$=84$ per day + whatever overnight fee you agree on. Also, be very specific about whether they are allowed to drive your kids around. Make sure meals are planned for your sanity and the children's comfort. Be very specific about the rules and how you can be reached. Also, leave local emergency contact info.

Well if I had done my home work properly I would have gone to an agency that employs the type of person you are talking about.
So the rate would have already been dicussed between the hirer and the agency.
It would make me feel a whole heap better doing it through an agency as I would be more comfortable leaving my children with someone who had references and who would have had a disclosure carried out on them.
Hope this helps.

Taking the minimum wage at £5.00 per hour multiply that by 48 hours and you arrive at a figure of £240.00
Assuming no tax is to be paid then deduct say, 20% i.e £48.00 leaving £190.00
Add on any travelling and subsistence allowance.
Should the parents object then don't do it.
However, the above is the MINIMUM rate and they could afford more.
Do not undersell your services. You could offer them Green Shield Stamps! If you don't understand that then ask your Dad.

It somewhat depends on the age of the children and their needs. (If the children are potty trained and self sufficient and also if they are high maintenance or not). But a good starting point for me based on my children that are between 4 and 11 is at least $50-$60 dollars a day. Remember you get what you pay for and you don't want to gamble with your childrens safety by being cheap! If you are comfortable with person you are leaving them with, you need to ask that person what they want and pay it.

I had someone stay at my house and take care of my dogs while I was away on vacation, I paid her 25 dollars a day. You should pay a lot more for the quality care of you children. Like 60 dollars a day.

Well i charge five dollars an hour for a sitter because my daughter is a handful. So for two days it would be 240 dollars. That is not to bad. You could even make it 300 hundred because they are doing you a favour.

depends on what value you put on your childrens wellbeing, this must be priceless of course if this person is managing your kids to put it in business terms then i would personally pay them over the odds say £ 200 -£ 250 for the 2 kids over 2 days i think that is very reasonable

as it sounds like you havnt left them for that length of time with a professional before and so leaving them for two nights with someone who doesnt know your children sounds like a bad idea. i would find a friend or family member to do it and offer to pay them a small amount or do them a favour in return
