My daughter lost her father to cancer when she was three. She is now seven. I would like to share with her every year on Fathers Day, a few quotes from loving Dads. Important life wisdom or encougaging words every father wants their daughters to know. I also lost my father at a young age, so I am unable to share any from my father. Thank you!

I am the youngest of the family and have never realy been around babies or kids at all. In fact there was a time when I was completely a wreck about caring for a child because I had no idea what I was doing. Now that I am 26 weeks pregnant, I am around my friends baby a lot more. She comes over with him and he crawls around my house and such so I try to be really attentive about what he is doing and getting into. Like I didn't think he should be crawling on a concrete patio and I closed off the room to the kitty's litter box. Things like that. She said I am going to be too over protective of my baby and that I need to relax. I think that you should watch carefully over a child but I don't want to be too over bearing of my baby. When does it cross the line from good parenting to overbearing?

Back in my days when the cane was around, children seemed to have more respect for their elders. It was something dreaded at school, and the embarrassment of anything worse like detention or suspension (not to mention your parents giving you another hiding when you got home) was unthinkable.

Now children speak to adults with disrespect, there is no punishment at school, if you break the rules you get to hang out in the office or pick up garbage which is better fun than going to class anyway and if you're really bad you get extra holidays! Your parents can only talk to you so that you don't report their "abusive" behaviour and get taken away, and when you get older if you screw up, well your parents cop the rap for not disciplining you!

Where are the adults rights?

One of my son's freinds came to me yesterday needing to talk.he is 10 yo.He told me that another freind of my son was molesting my daughter.I asked my daughter,3yo,if anyone has touched her anywhere that mommy told her was private. She said yes,but in front of the other mothers when we had a meeting about it she then said no.Im still going to the docter to get her checked, but im worried about what it might have done to her.For some reason i dont want to beleive this is happening to me and mine,im confused. We did get the boys to admit to kissing her.The boys ages involved are 10,and 8 years of age.I think its too soon for this kind of activity to even be going on at all. Please give me some ideas, other thoughts, and things to do about this!!!

how do you get a 2 and a half yr old to listen? My daughter wont listen to me when i am telling her to do something, or when i ask her something! like when i want her to help me pick up her toys, she just sits on the floor and whines about it and i usually end up picking up all her toys myself and the other day, i had her in underwear cuz she is almost potty trained, well she stayed dry for a couple of hours and then pee'd in her underwear somewhere's, i got to her eye level and asked her where she went pee, and she kept saying she don't know and wouldn't look at me. also when shes being naughty and starts getting alittle rough, she doesn't listen. I make her sit in time out or i send her to her room, but my biggest problem is getting her to listen to me, it's like everything i say goes in one ear and out the other! help? I know she only 2 and a half but she is smart for her age and does understand alot of things, but she doesn't listen to me!

when she gets sooo fussy and sticks her mind on one thing and that thing has to be got for her, like around 10 pm she suddenly wants a pair of roller skates...I keep telling her I'll get them after sleeping but she keeps repeating and repeating and crying...all I do is silently look at her until she calms down and forgets the issue...

You need a licence to drive, hunt and even fish... yet there is no restriction on the most important task we undertake, to raise children. They don't even come with an owners manual, yet how they are brought up can change whole societies. Some pople have no idea: one person asked in here at what age should she buy her daughter cigarettes...

My 2 year old son plays with our neighbor's twin girls who are 7. I really enjoy him playing with him because they take a lot of time to teach him stuff. But recently my son came to me and told me that one of the little girls is trying to get him to take his pants off and show her his penis. I know my son is not lying, but other than this I have never had a problem with the girls. How should I go about telling my friend that her daughter is doing this? I know when she questions her daughter about it, her daughter is going to deny it and I'm scared that even after her and her mother discuss it, she will try again and tell my son not to tell me. Do I not let him play with her anymore? I don't want to ruin the friendship between the mother and me, but I will not tolerate stuff like this happening to my child.
