May 31, 1968...the day his mother (my grandmother) died, and the day before I found him dead of a heart attack in the back of our station wagon on a trip to New York from Georgia (where we lived) to bury her. We were stopped at a rest area outside of Spartenburg, South Carolina, and he crawled in the back to take a nap.

I was sent home from school early on May 31, with her death in the hospital, and when I got home, Daddy was crying while vacuuming the house before we left early the next morning to drive there. I was 10, and knew he was hurting, so I wrapped my arms around him, hugged him hard, and told him I loved him. I never got another chance before the next morning when he died.... But I do let him know I miss him, and still love him now in my prayers...and I always will.

PS...I was, and am and always will be a "daddy's girl".....

Everytime I see him. The last time was Wednesday. He and my mom came by for a short visit. They live about 2 hours away. I will be calling him in a little while to tell him Happy Father's Day but he is in Las Vegas so I do not want to call too early. My parents and I have a great relationship. I believe my children and I are on the right road to having that too. Good luck to everyone out there with that - family is VERY important.

Just this morning when I called him to tell him to have a Great Fathers Day. Two years ago my dad got cancer and I thought I wouldn't get a chance to see another Fathers day with him. Now each one is more special than the last. Remember that Parents aren't Forever.

I told him this morning when I called to wish him HFD!.... One thing I should mention... the man I called is actually not my birth father. He married my mom when I was 7 years old and raised me as his own. Growing up I did not have a relationship with my "real father", but imagined what it would be like... dreaming up a relationship... I did not realize what I had with the man that I saw every day. He is who I think of when someone asks me about "Dad". I only wish I had realized it when I was a child. I thank God for my dad every day and never use the words "step dad"... he might be legally, but in my heart he is MY DAD!!! I am a grown woman with my own children and he is who is grandpa!

We tell eachother every single day! Even tho I am married and have a child of my own.. not one single day goes by that I do not tell my Dad and My Mom that I love them. I may be almost 32 years old.. but I am not too old to pick up the phone or make a visit and tell them both how much I love them and thank them for everything they do.

September 19th of last year.... my dad had congestive heart failure. My step-mom called on their way home from his heart doctor to tell me they said everything looked good and that he was feeling better than he had in years. Well before we hung up I told her to tell him i said HI and that i loved him. We got off the phone and less than an hour later he had a massive heart attack and died. I tell him every day that I love him and wish that he could be here to see his youngest grandbaby growin up.

a part of me isn't sure if I truly love my dad or not anymore. I said it to him the last time I saw him which was like a month ago but I am saddened that I may not have truly meant it.
