Law & Ethics - May 2007

I was attacked by 2 family members but when I called the police they decided not to arrest them. I received minor injuries (bleeding lip and some bruises) but I really feel that there's something wrong with this picture. I didn't start the fight nor did I lay a hand on them (even after they attacked) and yet I was clearly the victim and they got away with it.

I don't want to sue for money because they are both under 18 (not much though) and it would hurt my parents. Is there anything I can do to make sure they serve their time? I didn't write a statement because my head was still hurting after the attack. Is that bad (I don't have much experience with these kind of things)? I truly tried to forgive them but they never really even apologized to me.

Say an admin.agency (FCC, for example) appeared to be passing rules that catered to special interest groups. Can congress constitutionally pass an act that says all rules issued by the FCC must be approved by congress before they are effective? If so, where in the constitution is support for this idea found?

I'm just curious, is it unlawful to keep an item that has been confiscated forever? I just remember when I was younger, I got items taken from me and the teacher/elder that took the item would say, "It's mine now!", and I never got it back.

So, is it unlawful for the confiscator to keep the item for good this day and age? I'm sure it is, because it seems like they are stealing the item.

I challenge corporations and government authorities. The evidence centres around environmental and product solutions to toxic problems. I also question the spending habits of authorities (like the £13,000 PER DAY Somerset County Council, Somerset, UK voted to pay the ex-Chief Executive of British Petroleum, Lord Browne of Madlingly using Council Tax payers money).

I have 3 or 4 potential warrants out for my arrest. That's if Somerset County Council's district subsidiary Mendip District Council decide to execute them.

Despite the fact that the criminal courts of the UK are supposed to be public it is illegal to ACCURATELY record the court proceedings in a Magistrates' Court using an audio recording device. When I tried it - this was done because the court clerk refused to allow me their court notes - I was threatened with imprisonment.

The evidence I presented did not contain personal data so the Data Protection Act was not breached.

I live in California and I have a six year old daughter. My daughter has just informed me that a 14yr old boy (her step-father's cousin) had kissed with his tongue. As she is stating this she mentioned that she was used to it. So I believe it is not the only time this has happened. I called the Sheriff's department to report it, apparentally it is not against the law for a 14yr old boy to french kiss a 6yr old child. I don't understand how there was no law being broken. I called Child Protective Services and they stated it was out of there jurisdiction because they don't live together. I feel like no one is doing anything about this. What if he does it again? What if its not all that he has done? The deputy said if I want him to talk with my child and then the 14yr he would...your d*mn right I do! Is it like this everywhere? Is it ok for teenages to french kiss children? Someone please help me understand....

I have a sidewalk going from my front door to my driveway. There are two cement steps with cinder blocks at the end near the driveway.

I lost my footing on the block (which was loose) and had to take an ambulance to the hospital, where I was diagnosed with a sprained neck. there was a LOT of Pain in my neck, shoulders and back.

What would this be comparable to in terms of a lawsuit? I know it is personal injury, but is it more like a $500.00 lawsuit or a $100,000.00 lawsuit?

I pulled my credit report through a company called Identity Guard and in it it contains background information and according to that I was arrested and charged for drug posession a felony in the state of Arkansas I have never even been to Arkansas and that definately was not me I live in Ohio. I dont know what to do to find out if this is a mistake on the part of Identity Guard or if someone has stolen my Identity. I called Identity Guard but am just getting the run around from them and my local police department will not help me until I can prove this is really listed under my social. I am going for a great job interview on Saturday and am afraid I wont even be called back If this does show up on my background check. Arkansas is not a public information state and they want you to pay for everything. I dont know where to begin Please Help

she has been beating around the bush.hasnt fixed the pipes ,i had to pay a freind to stay at her house due to the heat (my baby puppies where dehydrating) our llawn has been neglected,she had even changed the security deposit amount with out talking to me after i confronted her on it she has yet fix any of these issues i have finally told her no rent till its all fixed she says no fixing till i pay my rent what can i do ?? i ;m lost and confused what are my rights??

A co=worker was disaplined for taking pictures of womens backsides. Not nude or anything, but still it was of there bottoms. I want to know if there is a law against this or if this is just unecceptable behavior.

i know many old friends that payed the same price as she is for the same reason she is. so why is everyone saying to pardon her? thats bull man. last year i got my first ticket ever i am 26 years old some lady hit me as i was driving my sister to the store in her car which did not have insurance. i got a ticket for no insuirance and for the next 3 year i have to pay a surcharge of 260 every year. i was pissed but **** happens. so why does she who has violated thelaw over and over . and has numerous tickets feels she should be pardoned? reality check is what she needs.

Ok here is the situation that I am in. I parked my truck in the plaza where I went into the 24 hour fitness. I believe that 24 owns most of the parking lot but I am not sure. There are other stores who put up signs and other things for their parking only. Ow yeah this is at around 12:18 to 1:45 in the AFTERNOON!! There are no signs posted saying that they are not liable for anything that happens in the parking lot. I parked about 45 yards away from the front door. They have two cameras but were not pointed at my truck. They were only pointed at the front door and some of the cars in the parking lot. I also installed a Viper alarm (viper only offers a one year policy on their alarms) at Best Buy about 3 years ago and the alarm didn’t go off at all. The criminals popped off the outside lock and ransacked my truck. I need to know what I can do if anything to make any of these companies pay for the damages to my truck. I ned to know what i need to know or find out and what i can do!!

I allowed my sister to use my ID to travel back in forth to work because she had her license taken away due to having 2 DUI's. She was pulled over and told the officer she was me. The officer figured out that was a lie and called me to ask if I had given her permission to do so. I have not called the officer back yet and am wondring what kind of trouble i am looking at if i lie for my sister. I acquired a Cellulitus/Staph from a tanning salon. I have had to go to the dr,buy prescriptions and endure alot of pain as well as the flesh in the area turning a nice shade of green turning to black. The tanning salon does not follow sanitation regs(found out after the fact). They use baby wipes to clean the bed off in between clients. So is there a remote chance I have a case for this?
