Hello, i tried to purchase some phones off a guy on the internet, he lives in orlando, Florida. I got his name/address.. he ripped me off for $300.... I live in CA,, can i file a lawsuit or someway stop this idiot from harming others? or get my money back?

He's also probably long gone. We don't have all of the circumstances concerning your 'purchase' so it's difficult to offer any suggestions regarding a lawsuit. But look at it as a lesson learned. Buying anything through the internet is a chancy endeavor..you bought a phone. You could have bought a phone anywhere in your town probably.
If you have this guy's address, see a lawyer. But he may have simply vanished.
With YOUR money.

its the cost vs worthwhile that affects you
1) you'd have to file in Orlando Court and pay the court fees to do so.
2) you'd have to fly to Orlando, to bring this guy to court
3) more likely he wont show up anyway, and you'd be given a summary judgment which is as enforceable as police stopping people from jaywalking

Your airfare would cost you more than what you were out.
Take it as a lesson learned, and move on.

cut your losses. that's what you get for buying something off the internet from "some guy". it might cost you more to go to small claims court. if he was on ebay or something, then it might be possible. if it just was some random person, then you should've known better.
