I am majoring in paralegal studies and in my law & ethics class i have to do a research paper. I want to do it on serial killers but i am unsure of how to tie it into the class itself. I am very much into criminal law and would like that to be shown somewhere in the paper. If anyone has any good ideas please throw them at me or email me. Thanks!!

I heard on the radio this morning that the mayor of Brazoria (I think) wants to trample on the rights of his constituents. What's next, making it a crime to deny the holocaust? My question is: Should we ban words because someone is offended?

Note: I tried to write the word out, but Yahoo has already banned the word (and I fully support their right as a private entity to do so).

Now that we are starting to realize that our "war on drugs" has been pretty unsuccful at keeping people from doing them do you think that legalization of all or some drugs with government control is a good idea.

If you know what "racism" actually means, you will agree that both of these are, in fact, racism. But why is it OK to be racist only if you are racist to the majority?

I strive every day to be colorblind. But how is hiring someone just because they are black being colorblind? You should hire the most qualified worker, regardless of race, sex, or nationality.

I recently auctioned a classic car on eBay. I had several people contact me to make offers and to ask me to stop the auction and sell to them directly, including the guy who ended up winning the auction. The whole concept of bidding on/buying a car sight unseen based on a description and photos boggles my mind, but that's how it went. The winner never came to look at the car, sent his deposit and then brought a trailer to pick it up two weeks later. He only briefly looked over the car, checked the VIN number and compared it to the radiator cover, and then brought the trailer around to load it up. I asked him if everything looked OK and he said yes as he loaded it up. He paid me, we transferred the title, and he took the car. Now he's complaining that the car wasn't as it was described, is saying I cheated him, and is threatening to sue me if I don't give him some of his money back. I told him if he's unhappy to bring the car back in the condition I sold it to him, but no response. Help

Over the past summer, I was called in for jury duty in the Contra Costa County, and I went there and did my stuff.
Right now, I'm a student at UC Santa Cruz, and I've received a jury summons from the Santa Cruz County. Is this right?

If not, can my status as a student get me out of this (in any way besides actually having to go to the courthouse)?

Does the minimum for a quorum have to be present to make the meeting illegal?

My husband had a Perkins loan that was originally for around $800. The fact that it existed completely skipped both of our minds (especially since we weren't getting any documentation or calls on the loan). Then in December 2006 a collection agency said we now owe $1554.78. They said we have until the end of January to pay it in full or they "will take the next necessary steps" (which they won't tell me what these steps might be. I told them we could pay them off in 3 months ($500/month). They said they won't except a payment plan. We don't qualify for any personal loans or the like. I've heard that if we pay them some of the money that they can't take action against him/us. I've heard other people say this doesn't apply to federal loans. I know this money is our responsibility and we messed up. I'm just trying to figure out what we might be able to do or what might happen if we don't pay the full about by the end of this month.
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!!

In both cases a woman is making a choice not to have a child that is not yet born. Maybe if we just took away a woman's right to choose (and to drive) the world would be a better place. Any thoughts?

My ex-landlord is trying to sue me in small claim court for "damages" to the property. However, after I moved out, I move to another state. Well, she worked with my ex-boyfriend and he just called me and said she just handed him my subpoena. Just wondering if it's valid & am I require to abind by it? Does my ex-boyfriend require to mail it to me now that he received it? The only connection he has in this is the fact that he was my boyfriend, not like he was a tenant there too or anything. What is he required to do with that subpoena now?

Good Day,
My name is Michelle , I am very scared for my children. I have three children by my ex husband Jeremy. He had every other weekend visitations with the children. My daughter who is 6 stated that "Daddy put his winkie on my private and he put his tongue in my mouth." I called DCF And they came to my house and Alisha my daughter told (the DCF officer) and (Brevard Sheriff officer) what had happened. They went and spoke to Jeremy and he said something like, "I don't know if I did, I may have been on drugs." DCF did nothing to protect my daughter so I went and filed for a injunction which the judge did approve. DCF closed their case and there records state verified findings when it comes to Alisha's allegations from CPT interview. Brevard Sheriff officer forward all her info with a capais request to the states attorney. I was told to do supervised visitation with Children's home society per the injunction. The states attorney has not closed their case as of yet but, I don't think that they are going to do anything. They said that they only have a 6 year old girls word and they don't think they could win the case. My daughter Alisha is forced to go into a room during visitation with Jeremy, the man who molested her and say, "I don't want to see him," while he is standing there. I feel like everyone is letting Alisha down and not protecting her. She is the victim here and she is still getting victimized by people who are suppose to protect her. I fear that Jeremy may one day get his weekend visitations back and this may happen to any one of my children again. Please help. Thank you, Michelle

this week a man was again sentenced for rape in ireland. this is the second time he's been sentenced for such a crime here and he was also sentenced for sexual abuse in england in the 80s. why was a man like this ever allowed out? there must be tests and appraisals which show that this man is not safe to be let free in society. shouldn't he be in prison for the rest of his life besides being free to prey on women again and again?
