Over the past summer, I was called in for jury duty in the Contra Costa County, and I went there and did my stuff.
Right now, I'm a student at UC Santa Cruz, and I've received a jury summons from the Santa Cruz County. Is this right?

If not, can my status as a student get me out of this (in any way besides actually having to go to the courthouse)?

Usually a jury summons contains very specific information on what to do if you feel you should be excused. Read yours carefully. There should at least be a telephone number on it for you to call to discuss it with someone. And if you served on any jury in the last year or two, most courts WILL excuse you. Just be polite and ask nicely.

in Ireland, no-there are always border issues, but it typically goes on your voters registrar-if you are on the register for one area, then you cannot lawfully represent another area-and to do so in Ireland without informing appropriate authorities in time YOU are at fault and liable! Crazy Irish legal system for ya! But I presume that there similarities in most systems! Contact your county registrar for information and clear it all up in seconds, or if your civil service is anything like ours-then it might take a SMIDGEON longer!

Hope this helped!
