Both are bad, but not hiring someone because of their race is worse, in that it shows negative racism - the decision is made out of hate. In the other case, there is a rational argument that the person is trying to do something good. I don't agree with that position - I think hiring should be done on ability not race, just as college admissions should be color blind.

Nobody is colorblind. Everybody has prejudices, most just won't admit to it. I don't see how anybody could get hired, as your example, just because they are black. Nobody would hire someone just for that reason. They must have some skills or qualifications to get them the job. Look at what type of people have the most advantages: white men. They are the bosses, supervisors, CEOs, etc the majority of the time.

i think hiring someone because they are black is worse than not hiring someone because they are black. because then the most qualified person isn't getting the job and i know a lot of black people that will try to get jobs they aren't really that qualified for and claim racism if they don't get it.

I don't see any difference in the level of stupidity in the act. The only time that your skin color or gender should matter is in acting. If you're doing the life story of Rosa Parks, you can't have a white man play the part.
Other than that, hire the best person for the job.

Not hiring is much worse. The Person never gets a chance to prove themselves.
Hiring someone because they are black gives them a chance and if they make it, fine, if they don't the hiring decision can be reversed.

They are both wrong, and both just as bad as the other. Always hire the most qualified for the job.

I'd say that they're equal. A person can either hirer a black person that isn't as qualified as someone of another race or he can turn down employment to a black person that was the most qualified. Either way you look at it, it isn't right.

Racism- The Congressional Black Caucas just turned down a honky congresswoman because "there is an unwritten rule that you must be black". She was attemting to join this nasty, bigoted group of hatemongers because she has a high black constituency. These evil shakedown artists are a drain on taxpayers.

I only hire people that impress me with their ability to do the job. White, black, brown. If you can't hang, don't come around. You can get around the silly hire laws. Just stay under 25 employees. I have even split a business into smaller parts under new names to avoid all that federal claptrap.

I think theyr pretty much equal, both as bad. Just don't do it. And if you feel pressure to hire someone just because they are black do something about it.
