I heard that you cannot copyright an idea, you can only copyright the expression of the idea. I find a school research paper which describes in general steps that are used by the authors in their projects without any code. I wonder if I implement my software based on their descriptions, will I violating the copyrights?

once an absentee dad is served with child support papers that say he has 20 days to begin paying or to respond for a hearing, what happens if he does NOT ask for a hearing but also does not start paying. Do they start garnishing wages instantly, or do they send him to jail? Or do they do anything at all?

I went to a doctor visit and needed to take an x-ray. I paid a co-pay of US$35 and when I asked for my x-rays at the end of the visit they said they kept them and asked if I wanted copies. I said yes, since I have always kept the x-rays and exams I get done (while living in South America), and they said each copy would cost US$16...Is this right? Could I have insisted on taking them, after all I paid what I had to pay and the insurance pays the rest???

Why is it that if a husband tells his wife about a crime he committed she cannot use it to testify against him in court? Or am I grossly misunderstanding it?

My Roommate has IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome). He's a nice guy, but often when we have guests he can be in the kitchen and his light tan khaki pants may turn dark brown in the back. The smell pervades the room, he becomes embarrassed, and we usually don't see him again until the company leaves.

I have paid for most of the furniture in the house and he stains it often. What do I do? A part of me wants to tell him I can't abide with his problem any longer- it is hard to live with- and ask him to move. Any suggestions? His name is Joe.

My ex-wife as of Friday was arrested for dem violence agaist me that following Saturday. The home is for sale and both can legally reside her per the divorce judgement.

In the divorce judgement it states I pay $1200 a month towards all bills hers or mine until closing of the house. It staes she is responsible for the rest. Her lawyer states she can't be in the home so I am responsible for all the bills.

Should I pay the bills out of my own checking account and sue her later or pay the bills from our joint account. Should I hire a lawyer.

(we both had no lawyers for the divorce. It was going that well until this)

Please help!

Something sounds suspicious about the company that is offering the check. I am suppose to deposit the check into my bank to cover processing fees for my winnings. I called the local police department and checked with the Better Business Bureau. Very little is known about the company or its practice. The police said I should ignore it. What should I do and how do I verify the ligitamacy of the check and company it is coming from? If anything, is the check at least good for cashing if I decide not to pay for the processing fees? Please help.

If you change one law to whatever you want, what would it be? Why does it need changing? Why is it more important than anything else?

heared about a law that is in consideration on california, that would make it illegal for a parent to spank or otherwise physicly punish a child younger than the age of 4.

what do you think? how far can the goverment go with invade out private lifes? in my opinion, a well deserved claps on the butt never hurt (not talking about beating the crab out of the kids, that's BS) i was rised the way that when i did something wrong, i had a spangking coming, and it did not make me a violent, bad, blind person..... opinions?

Does the mention of 'Hate Crime' remind us more and more of our differences? and shouldn't we focus more on what we have in common? And if the hate crime bill reminds us more of our differences then of what we have in common, is it a responsible law? would our government knowingly remind us to hate?

If it's not, it should be. It's distracting to both yourself and drivers around you. You can't hear an emergency siren (especially one belonging to a police car that's pulling you over) when you're listening to some mind-numming rap or metal. Plus, it's a health hazard to yourself. No wonder people don't listen, their ear drums are totally shot.

He's been through so much stress. I've noticed that he's banged his head while riding bikes, and occaisonally slurs his words and suchforth. The poll #'s are the worse since Nixon, and the Dem's lust for his blood, (Poison pill?) and Watergate II just for the Joy Kill. If so, will Cheney "Resign for Health Reasons?" Will Pelosi try another Coup D'Edat? Or will we have to resort to a Group Presidency by former Presidents as we have this new Royal Flush? The whole truth about Congress may well now come out that Condit's lawyer has ditched him... But for this to happen, we will have to stomp CommieLand HARD... Is this why they are doubling the size of the strategic oil reserve all of a sudden?
I mean, really! Decades of infiltration HAVE to come to an end, some day, and ALL THOSE MISSILES of theirs fall to earth in pieces, from Denver to Red China to North Korea - And Iran?
