My Roommate has IBS (Irritable Bowl Syndrome). He's a nice guy, but often when we have guests he can be in the kitchen and his light tan khaki pants may turn dark brown in the back. The smell pervades the room, he becomes embarrassed, and we usually don't see him again until the company leaves.

I have paid for most of the furniture in the house and he stains it often. What do I do? A part of me wants to tell him I can't abide with his problem any longer- it is hard to live with- and ask him to move. Any suggestions? His name is Joe.

I know people with IBS. I know there are some people who have it with diarrhea, and other have constipation. From what I have read, there are cases where it is so chronic, people can't fly or even leave their house. Explosive diarrhea....soiling their clothes...it's embarrassing.

Please check out this site so you can have a better perspective of what he's going thru--and maybe find a solution or point him in the right direction...before you kick him out. http://www.aboutibs.org/perspective.html

You should not ask him to move, but instead help him get help for IBS. Maybe he needs to be on medication like Zelnorm that can be prescribed by a doctor. Or, he can try sitting on his own furniture or sheets or plastic bags when he is having an IBS attack.

There are ways to control or prevent the problem and he should look into them.

IBS gives you some warning. This may be more serious than that. If it is a problem for you then you need to discuss it..I have never known IBS to make yu let go all the time like that.

Tell Joe to buy depends, dark brown pants, or see a doctor.

what does his name have to do with anything?

buy him some depends & oust the heck out of your apartment.

this really isn't a question on ethics, but more about tolerance.

so you are making the question up out of boredom?

Have him see a doctor. There are medications that can help with that.

And yeah - what DOES his name have to do with it?
