You can date at any age! But sex with someone over 18 while you are a minor(under 18) is against the law (punishments differ widely state to state and it also depends on the amount of age difference between the two people ie. more punishment for a 40 yr old with a 17 yr old than an 18 yr old w/ a 17 yr old). However, there is always exceptions to the rule and Texas is no exception.
++ PLAY IT SAFE AND DON'T HAVE SEX WITH MINORS, IF YOU CHOOSE THAT LIFESTYLE AT ALL. OR IF YOU ARE A MINOR, WAIT UNTIL YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! (YOU THINK YOU DO BUT THE CONSEQUENSES DO REALLY SUCK AND WILL TOTALLY MESS UP YOUR LIFE), YOU THINK YOU HAVE THINGS ALL PLANNED BUT PEOPLE CHANGE +A-LOT+ AT THAT AGE AND YOU OR YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER WILL +VERY+ LIKELY DECIDE THAT THIS IS NOT WHAT IS REALLY WANTED!
With that in mind Texas statute declares that even if you are only one year appart (17 yr old minor and 18 yr old) you can still go to jail for "Indecency with a child" (see source) and if there is more than a 3 year difference the punishments get very severe! and probably have a name like criminal indecency w/ child or something.
BUT if you are married (however that happened to have occured with a minor -many times that can occur with parent approval at 17 or so {some states only} or if the minor has filed for emancipation {this is when the child legally makes the parents no longer responsible for the child and the child has more free will to do as they wish {usually a bad idea b/c kids use this for dumb reasons when they are not ready and can't get parent approval for something the parents disagree with but of course the child knows better -sarcasm, of course- there are some cases when this is a good idea but there are NOT that many "bad" parents out there, just because a child disagrees and wants to have sex or whatever I wouldn't consider that abuse of any sort, wait it out and you can do what you want with your life, waiting one year is not that bad -it is really no time at all}) "anyway back to what I was saying", if you are married you can have all the sex you want. Again, a bad idea because you do NOT know yourself or the other person. It takes ONE YEAR to really know a person but that is thrown out the window when someone is a minor because YOU WILL CHANGE, MINORS ARE NOT THE PERSON THEY WILL GROW UP BEING. ONCE YOU HAVE FULL FREEDOM FOR AWHILE (LIKE 10 YEARS) WILL WE GET TO SEE THE REAL YOU START TO POKE OUT.
About the abortion (DON'T DO THIS EITHER, REALLY), it varies widely from state to state. In Texas you can have an abortion as a monor if:
you are emancipated (see above -again, bad idea)
your parents/guardian approve it
condition exists that it would be harmfull to carry the pregnancy to term or something else like the minor is very mentally handicapped -this comes from a doctor.
A judge or court magistrate or something decides to let the minor do the abortion -very rare, probably for cases of severe mental trauma to a minor in an incest or rape case or something like that.
IN CONCLUSION, YOUR QUESTION IS ALARMING! JUST WAIT IT OUT, IT WILL BE OK. SEX WILL STILL BE AROUND IN ANOTHER YEAR AND YOU WON'T BE ANY WORSE OFF WITHOUT IT.

The age of sexual consent in Texas is 17, WITH the stipulation that the partner is within 2 years of the minor, however...don't confuse the age of consent, with being 'legal'. You still can't drink or smoke etc...
I don't know for certain, but I believe in 2001 Texas passed a law making it mandatory for minors to have parental consent for abortions (until age 18).

neither. 18 defines you as an adult and you can vote, join the military and buy cigarettes, get into some clubs, etc. You can date and have abortions pretty much at any age you want. Unfortunately

17. The problem is you can't enter into any legal agreements until you're 18.

18, except it has nothing to do with abortions or dating. Abortion laws are federal and are not limited by age.
