Well I've had my Mali Uro for about 4 weeks now. For now she is in a 10 gal tank with paper towel for bedding, a hide box, and slate for basking. For lighting a 100 watt household bulb + a UVB bulb. She has a good diet and is eating pretty well. But when she breathsshe seems to make a little snap, crackle, pop noise. I called the vet today (their about 79 miles away) They said about $49 for the check up and about $29 for medicine and my mom just isn't really going for it. Is there any thing I can do to in hopes she might kick it on her own???

Thank you everyone, PLEASE HELP! 10 *stars!*

Would they be able to be housed together? I have a docile baby sulcata, and would like to get an adult three toed box turtle. I was wondering if for the time being I could house them together, buying the turtle and a new mercury vapor, then waiting until my next check to buy a new (is the 100 gallon the enormous tank?) for the three-toed. I wasn't sure if the three-toed would attack the sulcata...I know I wouldn't reccomend two different species housing together, but I was wondering if just for the time being (a week or two) if they could survive. Thanks!

Does anybody have any good instructions or know a site that has good instructions on how to convert a fish tank to a vertical terrarium? I want to get a crested gecko and I know that they would rather have height then floor space. Would this be a good idea. Also does anybody have some good ideas for nice custom backgrounds? Can you feed crested geckos crested gecko diet only or should also feed them insects on a regular basis?

like the title states, i am looking at getting my first snake. i have done a lot of research already, but real people always help more then a scientific internet article. i want a snake that is about 3-5 feet, but not as "girthy" as a ball python, so i was thinking a corn snake or a king snake, any reason i should pic one over the other? any information about cages and habitats would be nice, also feeding, live opposed to thawed?

Hi
I have a pet garter snake, Ken who has slithered out of his vivarium. I'm a rather inexperienced snake handler and although I've searched the house from pillar to post there's no sign of him. I've heard snakes usually head for warm damp areas, is this correct?
I need to find him quick before he runs into next doors cat, there could be a blood bath.
Thanks.

I have a chinese box turtle in an aquarium with peatmoss, a lil container with water, and some fake plants to hide himself in. We noticed a lot of little tiny flies like gnats or aphids and went to go check the turtle and found TONNES of little white bugs crawling in and on his tank. None were on the turtle but they covered the aquarium. What are these bugs?? I put the entire tank outside and put the turtle in the sink making sure he is rinsed and clean. I checked the area where the tank was and made sure there were no more bugs, from what I can see they are all outside with the tank now. Does anyone know what those bugs are, why they sit in the turtle tank and how to permanently get rid of them?

I am going to get a WD and I have a feeling that i will have to put the backround paper on 3 sides of the aquarium... true? Also, could an adult WD live in a 75 gallon aquarium? With lots of climbing stuff, water pits, and other assorted things? What should i use for substrate?

Well, at first I thought he was just dehydrated. His eyes are sunken in and if you lightly pinch his skin it doesn't go back to normal right away .. Which is usually signs of dehydration. I sprayed him alot with warm water and he did drink it. Now, he has no grip and can't even climb. I had to put his heat lamp on the ground and if I try to put him on a log he just falls down on his side and doesn't move until I move him. I'm pretty sure he may be dying but I have no money for a vet. Does anybody know what's wrong or what I can maybe do?
Also I don't think he's been eating, when I tried hand feeding him a cricket he wouldn't eat it.

This is my beardys cage setup:
substrate-wheat bran
Basking spot-98
Middle of cage-82
Cool end- 78
He has UVB and a basking lamp, he is in a 30 gallon cage. When i first got him he would eat 15 crickets every other day. Now though i feed him only vegetables dusted with that calcium powder stuff. Ever since i started hand feeding him his veggies he wont touch the crickets! I know their diet is supposed to be like 75% veggies and 15% protein. Someone help me. BTW he wont eat unless hand fed. He is a full grown male adult.
